Been over at Tauranga the last few days, visiting my recently widowed Mum.
Bought a ripper steak pie just round the corner from her place at the Cherrywood bakery.... best I've had for a while

    How do you eat pies

    Out of the bag?
On a plate (whole) with tomato sauce?
On a plate cut up with tomato sauce?

    Yes.

All of the above, depending on the establishment, (or lack thereof).

And whether my mum is present...

I guess if you at a gas station then you have no option but to scoff it out of the bag.

Really?...I had an uncle who was like that, always out of the bag, even if he bought it and took it home to eat, out of the bag, no sauce that way?

Yeah I like those ones when I lived up in Whanga's for a few years.

Another good place in west auckland (been few years since I've been there though) is the lil asian bakery in the block of shops on Henderson valley rd near the intersection with Pine Ave, they get the gravy just right, I loved their steak and mushroom pies.

Any of the Pâtisseries in Motueka... absolutely delicious.

On another note, if there was a bakery on campus @ Auckland uni it would surely be a winner.
