Exam failure arrested for impersonating biker officer

A Tokio man who longed to work as a motorbike policeman faces charges for impersonating an officer by riding a fake police bike.

The 24-year-old, whose name has been withheld, decided he wanted to be a bike patrolman after he was let off with a warning for speeding rather than being booked. He sat for the Metropolitan Police Department examination but failed. Undeterred, the man bought parts for a police motorcycle over the internet and created a motorbike with "POLICE" written on the body.

He rode the fake police bike on the Chuo Expressway on the night of Feb. 23. This alerted traffic officers, as the bike patrols do not usually ride at night. When questioned, the man told officers that he was unable to give up his dream to become a motorcycle policeman and wanted to act as a model biker to the public.

"I think he would have made a hard-working motorbike policeman if he had been hired by the police," an officer said. "But what he did is illegal."

Who says the Japanese don't have a sense of humour. Just as well it wasn't the US or they might have shot first.

I remember back in the 70's there was a bloke in Wellington who had a Suzuki GT550 triple which looked like the cop bikes of the time. He also dressed up like a cop with black pea jacket and white helmet and used to stand next to his bike at the entrance to the motorway just like the cops did back then.
Don't know if he ever got arrested though. Was probably seen as doing a public service.

    Wotanarse.

I worked for a radio communications/gadget company once that supplied various pieces of kit to the emergency services. One day we got a call from the police telling us that they'd arrested one of our bench engineers the previous evening for impersonating a police officer. Apparently they'd been trying to track him down for months following complaints from members of the public who had called the police for assistance, only for this fool to turn up in his white car with police decals, and in uniform. Apparently he’d then hang about at the scene of an incident then shoot off after a couple of minutes when the 'real' police arrived.

He'd been using one of the companies off the shelf pieces of kit in order to listen in for emergency calls. Sad. So very sad.

Although I have been known, in the past, to listen in on the emergency services. It gets kinda exciting sometimes! I guess that makes me kinda sad too.

    glowing bright red here.
Waaay back when the councils all had their own traffic department and the MOT had xj750's To fund my racing I used to buy ex police bikes and convert em back to civvy specs. Dual seats, paint jobs and pillion pegs fitted.
I ended up with quite a pile of cop bits. One night an evil plan was hatched and the Traffico bike was born. Remember the traffico clothes brand?
A couple of traffico stickers on the fairing. A spinning red light on the back. A couple of spotlights with red n blue celophane over em.
Could only work at night so a small group of bikers gathered and the great chase was on.
Details are shrouded in the mists of time but we went past a party or two where there were gals to be impressed The boys flat out on their bikes and a unnamed biker giving chase on a white xj750p with traffico on the sides,a red pole light on the back and redn blues on the front.I think a few cage drivers were watchin their speedos that nite.
all good fun -I just can't imagine how much shit we'da been in if we got caught.
