You would have to check everything:
Tyre Pressures & Condition
Oil
Water
Lubrication
Battery may be rooted.
Good idea to drain and replace fuel. The inside if the tank tends to rust.

As has been said, plus don't push it thorugh corners or give it a hard caning for the first hour, and be alert for any unusal noises or smells.
Then change its' oil and filter, fill 'er up with gas, and bobs yer auntie.

Works for me, one vehicle I did that with was a MK3 Zephyr that had been sitting for 5+ years, only had to replace rubber fuel line that went from chassis to pump. (It was sucking air instead of fuel as the hose was so perished.)
Winding up drongos, foil hat wearers and over sensitive KBers for over 14,000 posts...........

The tyres will probably be fucked if it has sat for that long.....not only do they harden, they change shape (really) if they've sat still with the constant weight on them, this of course depends on the type of tyres you have.Originally Posted by justsomeguy

chuck the battery on charge, tire pressures are ok, brakes work, fire it up let it idle for a while, drive not too far and make sure she doesn't overheat (crap buildup on the radiator will kill any cooling).
Otherwise... all good (oh and get a WOF and Rego...)

first of all you should take the plugs out and turn it over for couple of minutes or so to get oil circulating where it would have drained off or even take the rocker cover off and put some oil in it
keep an eye on tyre pressures daily for a few days to see whether the vales/ tubes/seals are still going to hold pressure etc

And don't forget bearings (wheel bearings on car - wheel, suspension, steering and swingarm on bike) especially if it's been outside or somewhere damp.
One of the biggest reasons you see boat trailers and caravans on the side of the road in the holidays!

And if it's a belt driven cam motor (car or Ducati) watch those, they harden and break. My poor MR2 snapped a belt after sitting. Non interference head fortunatly...thank god for lo-comp turbo motors
