Shaft drive Honda V-twin for $2000 ono
Ultra-reliable and sporty low maintenance 1988 Honda Revere (583cc) in a very attractive Ferrari-like red. Clean & tidy with single-sided swingarm drive, factory clip-on type bars, new tyres, new clutch, Givi top box bracket and screen.
An extra 50mm of foam in the recovered seat makes it look a bit bulky but you can sit there for hours in comfort. It uses a bit of oil on high speed journeys but it doesn't smoke, and fork seals should be replaced soon if you don't want to be bothered topping one side up occasionally.
For many years the favoured kit for UK dispatch riders, these bikes also inspired a new market sector: that of the born again biker. They have a reputation of being a solid all-rounder equally at home commuting, or touring two-up with baggage. In 1988 they sold for UK3,300 quid
The motor is a tuned version of the earlier Transalp (still in production?) and is consistent with the later Honda Bros, Hawk, 650 NTV and (dare I say it?) Deauville. Parts are not a problem, not that I think you'd be needing any.
I'm selling it because I now have a 650cc version on which I just got 190 MILES to a $17 tankfull of regular. I know one guy who says he will NEVER sell his and that he sold a BMW to buy it. His has done over 130,000 MILES, with a head job done at 100,000 miles.
My one's yours for $2000 ono and it's in Tauranga. Ph Geoff at work 0800 745438 or 021 963096 a/h.
