Saw a hot new (to me) ad just last night on TV2.
Young guy, doing everyday things, that all had equal "sexy" reactions to the good looking women around him.

And then after 9pm, the longer verson of the same ad.

    I'll buy that product!
Just need to remember what the product was.

    Reflex? Deodorant or something.

Having watched a little tv while I was in Wellington, I got to say, the only ad which I liked was the one by the LTSA for the scratchies. Had a guy pull himself out of the gravel, with him eventually pulling his bike (and pillion) out too. Cracked me up.

Would love to get a ripped version, if anyone does quite a bit of tv capturing and can grab it for me.

    Good Thread Moto!

I have to agree, that Steinlager advert is fricken powerfull! And, there are NO racial overtones WT, if they used two white guys they would be leaving out black people, same with two black guys (leaving out white people). Poor advertisers can never bloody win can they?

But for another great add, anyone seen the new Meridian Energy (I THINK, otherwise another power company) ad campaigns? One is about wind, and the other water (only seen at the cinema by me so far). The wind advert on tv has a seed floating over all sorts of NZ landscapes, and at the end they say something like: we hope you enjoyed a tour of your power station
Water add, similar but with a flower floating on water flowing over many different areas. A really beautiful add, musically and visually...
    1)Steinlager
    2)Meridian Energy (I think)

My absolute fave of all time was a mid 80's one for Trumpet ice creams where this slightly chubby bloke was trying to impress some blonde bimbo (her name was Fay or Kay I think) and his suave rival (Roger the bully) kept stealing his ice cream and the girl. had a very cutesy ditty to go along with it which I'll try to transcribe below (but everyone knows my memory is fading). It started off in school, and then to ater in life when Roger does the same but hes got a sports car.

I once brought an ice cream for a girl called Fay,
But Roger the bully stole them both away.
Now we are older, look what I've got,
    It's a Trumpet Fay,
    ....
[shouting] I'll get you Roger Higgins!!

...can anyone fill in the middle bit?

P.S. Second fave of all time was Toyotas "Bugger" ad, particularly the scene when he's trying to pull the cow out of the mire....

    Arrow Well.

Its the one with the 3 females walking through a building site and putting their hands into some setting concrete. Cracks me up every time...

    South Africans will remember this...

As the title suggests, you'd need to be a "Saffa" to know this one...

The Volkswagen Beetle advert, with the same beetle being shown in the lives of two or 3 generations. Had that great song by Andre DeVilliers, Memories ("I remember, the days of my life, i recall the faces, mostly yours, magic moments, life is a mystery".......).

Always moistened a dry eye or goose bumped the once smooth skin

    You guys actually like adverts?!

I farquin loathe the things. Especially on Sky - I pay good money to have forking marketing shite rammed down my throat, " Buy Canniston, it calms an itchy climatus". "Eat this shit and be healthy". Farq off. Marketing types should be strung up by their privates and painted with honey, then set upon by a swarm of psycho wasps that have just been told they're all gay and their fathers were bluebottles.

I detest adverts, I record alot of the tv I watch, and fast forward the adshits... But, when a truly good one comes along, I enjoy if for the design and implementation/execution of it, and not for the product being advertised. I detest the taste of Steinlager. It tastes like bile extracted from the Devil himself, but it was a great advert.

It sounds to ME, like you need Maalox, relieves acid indigestion, FAST

    .

I love the "bull in a china shop" ad for Vero.

Don't often see the ads, I tape most of what I watch and FF the ads.
