Question Disposing of ammunition - help please

    Hi all

Been clearing out my dad's stuff and I came across some .22 ammunition. He got rid of the firearms some time ago so I can only guess this is old ammo.

I'm not licensed and don't own a gun so I want to get rid of it responsibly and I'm guessing I can take it to the police, but I just wanted to ask the firearms owners here if there is any other way to get rid of it or if that was the right course of action.

Obviously not something we want falling into the wrong hands or just laying around in/on a land fill

    any help appreciated

I'll take it off your hand mate - have licence etc
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

    Burn it....

I'd take it to a gun shop prolly or to the coppers if the shop don't want it...

That is a serious suggestion. You can safely burn ammunition. The military does it this way by usually throwing rounds into a large incinerator. It is quite common to shovel large amounts of ammo in at once. It just goes "pop!".

The round is not surrounded by steel, so doesn't have the capacity to put energy in one direction.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Got a pot belly stove? You know you want to..

Three or four at a time please, not the whole box. We used to do it with 303's.

Do not do it with a glass-front fireplace. Thank you!

Don't do what I did as a kid and put them in the incinerator.... I've never seen my dad run so fast as the day he lit it after I'd done that!!!

Ring the police and speak to the local firearms officer.

Or ring the local gun club, and make a donation.

Oh cmon now!!!! It didn't remove the whole back yard did it?? Noooooo!

.22 shells in STRONG METAL incinerator will just go "pop, dink, splat, spit.." Try a .303 BEWM!!!!! LOL!!!

Gelignite is even more fun, but NOT in or near ANYTHING metal or glass - BAD! Nah seriously I don't know how I am still alive after all the stupid stunts I have pulled over the years. Fucken funny though, and some great stories and memories.

    Safety glasses are good idea.

I reckon a few of the KB firearm owners here that are near you could pop over and take them off your hands (they having rifles to dispose of them! )

Even .22LR rounds pack a punch. I shot my mates VL Commodore with my .22LR rifle from the side of the boot and it went in one end of the car and out the other. I then shot the drivers door and the slug got stuck in the drivers door handle which is quite thick. I wouldn't recommend burning them.
