Ohh nah thats all good and fine. There's only one thing that the one-eyed kiwibiker cop bashing brigade hates more than cops and that is motorcycle thieves so you'll now find them complaining about the lack of force instead of the excessiveness.

No, you shoot to stop. Aim at the largest target (centre of chest) and keep firing until you no longer fear for your life. In this case one shot was all that took. Killing may be a consequence, and you'd be a fool to aim for a limb in an effort to avoid it, but it is not what you're trying for.

Am I right in thinking that the guy was shot with an M4 Carbine? The news showed a cop handing one over to his boss for inspection.

If so that is a hell of a lot of stopping power for law enforcement. Plus the actor should feel grateful he didn't get totally fucked up by the bullet.

The cop probably had to drop him given the risk of the rifle falling into the actor's hands. Thats what you get when you take your nice toys out. As has been said a Tazer would have been ideal for this situation.

I must not know my guns very well. I could have bet my life it was a M16.

That or I didnt look very closely.
Fear is never a reason to quit. It's only an excuse.

Suicide by Cop. Just another example of the public assisting the police where possible. In this case, nothing beats a real person for target practice.

Bushmaster is the manufacturer. "Looks like" an M-16 but isn't... if ya get what I mean.
