    1985 Honda CB650 Luxury Custom

I bought this bike at the beginning of the year to use as a commuter and it has done the job well.

    Fork seals done at 60,000km
    New rear tyre at 64,500km.
Oil and filter changed at 65,000km
New chain at 65,000km - sprockets were fine.
    WOF current til Feb 2010

Has highway crash bars, and also 'Sago' 4-1 race exhaust. Both came with the bike when I bought it.

The bike runs smoothly and starts first time everytime.

Since owning it I've done just under 6000km on the bike and had no problems from it. This included a ride to the Bay of Islands and also down to Rotorua.

I've changed the standard bars for MX bars to make it a bit more nimble around town, but the original bars (with heated handles) will come with the bike as well.

There is some paint damage on the tank, and the rear fairing looks to have been repainted or at least touched up at some point. (see pics)

The fork stanchions are in immaculate condition thanks to the rubber fork guards. However the headlight mounts and one of the brake banjo's have started to show up some rust and pitting (see pics).

From what I can tell the tank is not the original CB650 'Luxury Custom' style tank, though it is obviously from another CB650, also the Comstar rims are not standard for a 'luxury custom' - the LC model usually has similar styled black rims.

Currently tuned a bit lean which is how it came from the last owner - so I run it on 96+, my guess is it would have a bit more go if you richened up the mixture.

I'd happily keep this bike for commuting on if I was in a financial position to do so.

Happy for you to view and test ride. Selling as I have bought a TRX850 sportsbike, and I may soon be off to Australia for work.

    $2000 as is where is.
$2500 - will have Rego til Feb 2010 and new steering head bearings fitted.

    Interesting bike.

Looks like the 16 inch rear has been replaced with a larger one?

Yep - incorrect tank - they had a very nice tear-drop shaped unit with silver stripes.

Very nice bikes when they came out, the quality of finish was very very good.

I think they always had 18's on the rear, I think the front is a 19. For a 24 year old bike that's done 66,000km it's looking pretty good. Has been fun to commute on, and even held it's own pretty good on the windy roads up to Russell.

I need the cash to pay fines and finish paying off the TRX!
