    Angry 15 years unemployed and 10 kids - $1200/week...

If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

I don't suppose there is much else to do besides procreation when you are poor and unemployed.....

I got made redundant from my job four months ago. Because my wife works full time we were not eligible for a benefit even though her salary wouldn't cover our mortgage payments. I now have had to take a job working nightshift, fifty hours a week (and up until now I felt lucky to have even found a job in the current environment). Apparently if I encourage my wife to start popping out babies I can quit my job, she can quit hers and we can earn more than we currently get with two fulltime salaries combined.

    Cathodicism here we come.

I am not so sure I like the way Paula Bennet is going about letting us know that there are people living on the gravy train here at the expense of the taxpayer, but good on her for doing it all the same.

I had a tenant, young girl, single Mother one child, on the DPB. She got behind in her rent (as you do) and I started getting really twitchy (as you do). I was in the process of terminating her tenancy when she came to see me and we arranged for her arrears to e paid by WINZ so she did not get kicked out. Alll good for my owner, they got paid, and I had this girl on a very short rope.

Anyway, a few months go by and she misses rent again, I ring her, no reply, no response to messages, so I go and visit. Knock on the door and it is opened by a bloke, who had his pants down around his knees ( you know that really cool way of wearing them) I ask to speak to my tenant. He calls her out from the back of the house and she comes to the door full of promises about making the payment up. Longer story short, I got another pay out from WINZ and then this chick did a runner.

Small town sees me find her within hours and I pay another visit to her new abode. Same drop kick answers the door, she slinks up and hello...hapu! Very it seems, they needed an extra bedroom for the new baby. Talking to her she said she was too scared to go and tell Winz she was pregnant.

It turns out that she had been living with this wanker all along, was on the DPB, he was on the dole Both babies were his, they lived as a couple. Both draining money from the system with impunity it seemed.

This is only one small instance of what I witnessed, and I live in a "nice" part of the world.

Bring on food stamps, and rent chits, and power chits. We get so ripped off it is not funny. People that sit home all day have to find something to do to amuse themselves. Trouble is they can not be bothered to avail themselves of the free contraceptives that are available.

Bloody Hell I have exploded here

I agree - food chits etc would be a huge help to where our money goes. They used to do it when Deka was around - provide clothing chits.

Just take a look at the Kahui Twins debacle - 12 people under one roof, and 11 of them on benefits - why is this still happening!!!!

Us honest people should have a say in how the government runs these sort of things

I have got no problem with anyone receiving a hand up.
But there seems to be quite a few looking for a hand out
