Any pipe smokers here?

A few years ago while visiting Nashville, I noticed a lot of people smoking pipes. Pickups with gun racks and teenagers... smoking pipes. I had to get one. Now I'm not a regular smoker but like Cuban cigars and only light up once every couple of weeks but the trouble is I can't find any nice pipe tobacco in NZ.

Any ideas?

Both P's aren't an option either. I'm nutty enough as it is.

I used to smoke a pipe and loved it but I do remember that having the right tobacco could make the difference between a pleasant relaxing introspective smoko or a perfectly horrible hot tarry bubble fest , most unpleasant.

I think you need a specialist tobacconist mate and if you can't find one in your neck of the woods it's gonna be a struggle to find it anywhere in NZ .

I think Jrandom smokes a pipe, he may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Clan is probably a good one to start on, it comes in a Tartan packet, smokes well and smells pretty good which certainly helps.

Edit: I just read Sarge's link and I don't recognise any of those Baccys but it did remind me about the church warden pipe, only for use at home because it's about a foot long and trust me you will have an accident of the rammed down your throat variety but if you want a nice cool smoke, they're the jobby.

Indeed he does - while rocking in his chair with a blanket over his knees yelling at the local kids to get off his lawn.....

There's a tobacconist (sp??) - in Victoria Park Market which does pipe tobacco and things.

Erinmore flake was a goodun. We used to mix with with others including port royal on occasion.

Borkum Riff was available in NZ, a mate of mine used to smoke it a lot - lovely smell and taste (yeah I had a few puffs - but I didn't inhale...

)
According to their website http://www.borkumriff.identityportal...rsary/history/ it says t it's sold in NZ still, so as others have said find yourself a specialist tobacconist.
