    Helmet falls to bits...

Well, not totally, but a bit did fall off it yesterday.

Arai Chaser helmet - been wearing it for about a year now. Nice helmet, fits well etc etc etc, although you do need a degree in engineering to get the visor on and off......
Yesterday I got back from the morning fang and put the helmet down on the chair it usually lives on when it's not on my head. It proceeded to roll off the chair onto the floor. I picked it up and found that the attachment at the back that houses the rear vent control had fallen off - two bits, now separated and now on the floor. Picked it all up and had a look. The whole thing is glued on with that pliable gummy stuff. Which surprised me a little since I thought they might be affixed a little more securely than that. But no, glue is the go.
I tried to stick it back on but it wasn't very secure at all. I figured a decent gust of wind would have it off again while I was riding along somewhere and I would never see it again.
So I rang Dolds, the importers, who, thankfully, are based here in the Tron. They said "Bring it in to us sonny and we'll fix it for ya." So I dropped it in this morning and can pick it back up tomorrow.
I hope the rest of the helmet isn't held together with glue...

I would be worried only if the main shell was made from two halves! lol

Not the only helmet that use glue to hold little bits in place

cool that they will fix it up again for you

Shoei are the same, IIRC the manual details how to prise it off (i.e. exactly where the glue is located) should you need to glue a replacement on.

Glue ain't all the same glue though; there's plenty of adhesives out there that are stronger than the parts that they're holding together

This ain't the kb way, you should be starting a thread moaning about the quality of Arai and telling all the world never to buy that brand.

Great work Dolds, coming to the rescue.

Moral of the story, always store hlemets on the ground. No chance of falling then.

That is normal, most of helmets are like that. On my Shoei XR1000 beck vent is clear plastic and thought it you can see super glue. I don't think (hope) any oder part of helmet is glue to it , just that attachment. Just use super glue and glue it beck mite.
