Problem with Suzuki Sj125 scooter

I have recently purchased an SJ125 for my wife to get the hang of riding on two wheels.

Unfortunately I've had to do a bit of work including replacing the stator, but all was running really well and I decided to take it for a ride into town.

All the way there it ran really well, however half way home it seemed to run out of power. It starts really easily and idles well, however when you go to accelerate it only seems to go so far and doesn't have any power to turn the back wheel.

It was in storage for about a year by the last owner due to having the stator problem.

Could it be a problem with the fuel lines etc? I am really quite new to all of this.

I had a SJ125 it was a real lemon. Thanks suzuki. I had so many problems I deregistered it, pulled it apart and sold most of the parts so it could never be put back together again.

I would check that the metal airbox brackets are still alright. My scooter broke them a few times and the symptoms were major power loss. Check the oil too as mine threw a conrod 1000km after being serviced (I should have checked it more often) and I stupidly paid for another engine to be put in.

Thanks Warren. I'm starting to get the same feeling about this one! Turns out the bracket was broken through the middle, and the one on the other side was also broken.

Will try and get a second hand one and see if that does the trick. The oil level is sweet as I just did an oil change when replacing the stator.

Really? They are reasonably cheap at suzuki but I would print off everything you can find about breaking brakets and try to get the parts for free via begging or Consumer Guarantees Act (possibly too old to claim).

If I had known more about the CGA a few years ago I would have taken them to court I lost countless hours and a few thousand dollars. My scoot:
