Yes!! I recall reading the Outsiders, and Rumblefish!

both great books, and great movies. we read outsiders in 4th form. ive read all of her books so many times. i hated how rumblefish never explained why the film was mostly black and white.

they also made 'tex', which i havent been able to find on dvd.

Tried to watch the film, but gave up afer the "MB to the rescuce in the ally" sceen becasue of the adverts.

Remind me to not bother watching any films on C4 again.

Wow "Outsiders" ... read that too in school ... along with "Black like me". And "Z for Zachariah" ... (scary how I had to teach "Z for Zachariah" when I became an English teacher I mean ... jeez got to update books!)

Don't forget "That was then, This is now" which was part of that series of books as well?

Oh yea, the follow-on from "The Outsiders"!!
SE Hinton wrote "The Outsiders" at 16, amazing!!

Are these books banned from English classes now?

Quite controversial wern't they (In the day!)?

Bit like a few other Iconic books...lol (a couple spring to mind)

exactly, TGW. but would you have known that if you hadnt read the book?

i did 4th form english in 99, and of course, devoured her books that same year [even liberated one or two from the school library, lol.] im pretty sure they are still studying it, 10 years later. i read z for zacharia as well, but cant remember what year, or if it was something i picked myself. i re-read it recently and wont touch it again. some scenes left me horrified.

cant remember the order, but hintons books are

    outsiders
that was then, this is now
    rumblefish
    tex
taming the star runner [amazing book! very hard to find.]

hawks harbor [recent, havent read it yet.]
tim's stories [also recent. havent read it]

she did two kids books as well
    big david, little david
    the puppy sister

good to know theres some other fans around. at school, everyone i knew hated the book. very isolating when the only one you can share your enjoyment with is a feckin teacher.

I have not read anything further beyond the first three, would love to though, might put them on my book list, cept I have three going at the mo

A wally lamb - The hour I first believed
Twilight (you jest!!? LOL - I know!!) A young girl at my local DVD shop was in rapture over the movie, it sounded boring but then I heard the book was good, but I find it a bit labouring and I'm only half way!!!
And the Alchemist - which is really friggen cool!!
