    Unhappy Working solo/alone?

anyone else here work alone during the day? i.e noone to talk too

finding myself turning into a bit of a hermit, loosing my sense of humour.
    feeling bit down...

whenever someone does come to talk they "try to think of something to say,
which usaly results in them saying something stupid meaning i usaly give a pretty smug answer making me look like a weirdo.

i used to laugh and joke, is there any long term effects?

i work in a warehouse down stairs from sales, im the only guy of 7 girls,
dont relate to any and they all love to gossip and stir crap,

Rev up the engine on your bike and see how many people still can't relate to you then! LOL, especially young ladies with nothing better to talk about than the lattest hottest comodity (could be you in full leathers on a nice bike!)

I can empathise. I changed jobs into a different role where I have MUCH less contact with other people. Even though there are 4 in my office, they seem to lacking in the personality department (engineers ). I'm definitely the odd one out...

Anyway, I am also really noticing the effect it is having on motivation levels and general contentedness with the job. I can only suggest getting as much social interaction as possible outside work, and doing your best to engage your colleagues in (semi-meaningful) conversation.

    Good luck!

Im sure Raj can give you some training bro on how to talk about the latest conditioner etc...

Are the chicks hot? Might be worth getting to know them better and eventually you'll be able to have normal conversations with them.

I work alone, at times the house owner may be there, but, I have ear-muffs on most of the time so no talkie. So I normally just get on with it, may stop for a drink and smoke but, get the job done and go home. I actually perfer it that way really.

    thanks for the reply's guys,

im still in my "old work mode"

used to be in a team of 3 , mucking around/ joking laughing talking etc whilst still working hard.

my role here is about 4-5 times harder and more involving than all the sales roles and the sales ppl know that (maybe not 4-5) but basicaly i dont sit on my arse , so they kinda feel sorry for me and try to "give me a bit of company once every 3-4 hours"

they think im weird also cause i listen to news talk ZB, but to be honest the sound of another males voice for half the day is the only thing i got at the moment keeping me sane as gay as that sounds.

ah.... its not that bad , just wanted to know if anyone else shares these same feelings,

    thanks guys

Mate, your life is a mess, its over, nothing to look foward to. There is no hope, end it now.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

You need to schedule networking into your calendar. Take muffins to your suppliers or clients, have regular catch-ups with any strategic partners you may have. If you haven't got any, get some!

Join a professional society and go to their events. Actively seek out opportunities to legitimately distribute your business cards.

Seriously, if you don't network you won't get known. I found when I was a sole trader that networking and strategic partnering were the best ways of generating more and better income.

The grass always seems greener I guess. Those of us that deal with crazy people all day are always wishing we had jobs which allowed us to sit in a room by ourselves all day. We're always saying how if we had a job like that, we'd be more sociable in the evening and with our partners, but instead we go home and just want to be by ourselves. It's pretty stink too. But I do sympathise with your plight about being the only guy among a whole gaggle of women
