    Smile Kia Ora Aotearoa

Hi to all in NZ from a cold UK biker now back home after a "shakey" time in
Wellington over christmas and new year.
I was supprised how few bikers there are over there given that your roads are just made for bikes. Its a shame that your dumb ass cops spoil it with the sneaky speed camera tricks.
I hope to hear from a few of you.

Greetings, hope you enjoyed your stay. You are right, the roads look great but the engeneering of many of them is not what it could be. I've found since returning to riding that roads I thought were fine when I was driving on them are really uneven and hard to ride on a bike and unfortunately the Police are probably the least damaging hazard that a biker need to be on the look out for!

I must say, I'm not a fan of our "sneeky" cameras (although I understand the Police in Victoria have raised this to a fine art) but reading MCN and UK magazines I get the impression that every UK road has a GATSO and the Police (on the whole) victimise bikers . What's your word on this.

Welcome fellow Brit. Where in the UK are you? :spudwave:

As for Gatso's - well at least they're fixed and can't jump out from behind bushes. Oh, and they don’t have 70's porn star moustaches, and they're illuminous, so they glow like Spud after a run in with Alan.

    Hi again.
Sorry for wait for the reply.
UK roads dont have a GATSO on every corner but there is quite alot.
They are easy to spot because they are painted bright yellow. Its the moble scamera vans that are a little harder to spot and they are the ones that have caught me out.
Most UK police forces dont have a traffic division any more but rely on area cars to police the roads and do general plod work.
If you stick to the 30+40 mph speed limits and dont go mad in the 50mph limits, dont have a can which is too loud and keep the number plate the right size then you wont get too much hassle from the law.
You will be ok to "make progress" in the 60+70 mph limits and provided you keep it under 100mph on the motorways and keep your eyes open then you should be ok.
    Cheers.

    Hi BiffBaff
I am in Robin Hoods county. Nottinghamshire.
Where are you from? How long in NZ?
I had a job offer when we were over there so we are considering a move to Nelson.
    Cheers
