    VTR1000 fairings?

Ok I want to remove the fairings so I can have a nosey at the engine. Now started on the left side and it all looked simple enough when I removed the first few nuts but stuck at the front.

The left fairing that I'm trying to get off has a clip of some sort that joins onto the headlight fairing and near this clip is another nut that feels like requires a philips head screw-g but this net is on the inside of the fairing so no way to get a screwdriver in.

So will I have to remove all the fairing from the bike like a shell or is there some trick to remove this side faring with safely?

    Cheers.

Unless you need to take them off - would be better to leave them on. The engine will look the same as any other one

I want to have a look over the engine to see there are no problems/damaged parts etc... as I have no history on this bike being second hand.

The baffles are removeable so that's the only mod on the bike. It will need new steering head bearings in a years time. Unfortunately the bike came with no paper work so I have no history i.e carbs etc... on this bike hence the reason I want to look the bike over. I look at this an an opportunity to learn about bike mechanics and as a project to make the bike better.

Oh check my profile for a pic of the bike.
