Yea, that seems to be the norm nowadays, as far as dealers are concerned. Father in law went to order a 1" drive belt for his Harley. Was told 6-8 weeks delivery by 2-3 firms. Ordered off e-bay, from a dealer in florida. Arrived after 4 days, and cheaper landed than he was quoted by NZ dealers.

I have an import business and I know that when a customer has a special request or it's a part we have sold out of.... I have no choice but to say that it will take at least three weeks to arrive. Irrespective of whether the item is ordered as part of our regular order or not it's still going to be 3 weeks. Why...? Typical US global company, you can scream "urgent...!" but it literally takes them 3 weeks to get round to doing your order! That seems to be the way they work over there (...I'm talking wholesale, here) irrespective of how big your company or where in the world. More than once I have purchased the item at retail from a supplier outside the manufacturer (including one-off shipping) and swallowed the loss just to please my customer ...!

You bastards! Taking food from the mouths of bike dealers and their families! They're owed a living regardless of how little service they offer!
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
