Well here we go – short track haven’t been here for ages!!! Last time we raced here was Dec 08 Tri Series.
Practice and Qualifying went really well, Higgans was pretty un ridable and the track was a bit cold but found a bit of traction out there – F3 went ok 1:19.8 good start – 1st half a second behind ash ( happy really as we could hardly push )- posties went better doing a 1:18.5 fastest bike out there.
F3 race 1:
Bad start – swamped of the line but made a good few spots up on T1, started chasing Paul B hard – got him by the left hander awesome – now to get some space on people. The first entry in the sweeper Paul b came up the inside HARD, I let go of me brake lever then swooped down “man this is fast!!” Next lap exactly the same, Paul showed a wheel a few more times. Normally the first lap is hard core but this was never ending, after the 2nd lap things calmed down NOT. I tried to relax – and began catching Ash……… oh yeah here we go. I’m good through the esses I thought – after the left I slammed her down to the right, knee straight to the ground.
Then I feel the back start to come round – then it’s at the steering stops…..so I stand up on the pegs to try and get her back…. As I do that she kicks me hard from the pegs up… im outa the seat ………DON’T LET GO YOU CAN GET IT BACK………. Then my heads over the bike ….. I STILL CAN GET IT
……. Then I’m over the bike and on the ground I think………… I SHOULD HAVE LET GO
……… see my hand getting munched and the bike take off on its side…. I looked up and saw I was still on the track F$%K… run you idiot!!
I ran like a mutated possum then flopped onto the grass…….Damn that hurt, my hand hurts, O look at that, its my muscle and bone of my thumb, my foot really hurts and I cant breathe……. All the O2 got knocked right out of me. Tried to get up but no I wasn’t going anywhere….. I had people come over fairly quickly I think…. Then the ambo ladies picked me up.
Once I was up I felt better – the foot felt broke ( but said it was ‘ok’ )and the thumb looked nasty. The Ambo people did a great job of checking me out, I did convince them that I was good to go and would pop back to get my foot looked at after Posties.
Aaron and Paul Martindale got me bucket of bolts checked out and with a few quick adjustments with a hammer she was good to go. I was told that I can do 2 laps then come in if Me or the Bike wasn’t 100% - words from AJ.
PC race 1
So I had stone cold slicks, and no screen. My left hand felt useless and me foot was pounding. Lucky enough I qualed on pole I was going to need all the help I can get!!
I decided to take it as slow as I could while keeping infront of anything that was a JNR. Only a couple of guys had a stab…… so kept my head down and finshed happily in 1st.
Lunch was good to recover, foot up and decided not to look at it cause id never get the boot back on. Also found out the times from my 3 laps of insanity in F3….. on the 3rd lap we did a 1:16.7 GOD DAMN I though it felt a bit quick…. Bit of an improvement from the old PB of 1:19.9 aye.
F3 race 2 very concerned about Paul b awesome win, with a time of a 16.5… I just wanted to NOT fall off and come in as far up the field as I can… Had a ok start and Paul took off, just stay with him as long as you can – try to get my confidence back but again it was a big step up. After 3 or so laps I was happy with my speed and placing… then a green monster had a go at me into the sweeper…hmmm no I think ill fight back.. I put my head down and pushed it a bit more. After 2 laps of dicing with number 80 we had caught up to Paul… I had some good speed out of the sweeper… im in his draft… T1 my favourite out braking place….. do it!!! Got past him – RIDE LIKE THE WIND CHAPPY….. Chequered flag YOU LITTLE RIPPER.
I came back as a broken man – needing help just to get off the bike.
PC race 2
Awesome start!! New I had the pace so went out hard but keeping safe. Mossey showed me a wheel into the sweeper – I waved him through down the front straight. Rode out the race found out I had done a 1:17.0 really happy with that all things considering.
My dunlops look beautiful! I’m going to take a picture and post it in this tread, it looks brand new!! Cheers to Dunlop and Doc Rob for setting it up so well
It was the best of times it was the worst of times……. I was happy to load the bike up for the day…..
Thanks to all those that came over to make sure I was ok….and to those that worked on my baby to get her together again, Paul m and Aaron. I was very lucky to finish as well as I did and not to be more hurt. Xrays on Sunday showed no broken bones just huge bruising. BUY GOOD GEAR!! My new back protector saved me spine hugely no back aches at all.
Im off to the garage to make her look beautiful again……. bring on long track!!
