Of course she will, you know her, you are riding with her and you are shagging her. Of course she is going to stand out to you in a queue of vehicles.....
Me...Im not trolling, I take it anything that doesnt agree with you is trolling. If you are quoting stats to prove your point, quote them properly otherwise it is not a quote it is just you pulling some shit out of your arse.
You seem a bit defensive, it could be becuase of your mute points or the fact that your "I know everything" bullshit veils has become transparent.
Mind you I'm not saying that white helmets dont have an affect, just that their affect is minimal at best. You know the old saying, "when a butterfly flaps its wings..."
Ooh lets discuss chaos theory, Im sure andrew knows heaps about that too.
no, persisting in making a right ass of yourself (to the point of changing your name) and dragging us all into arguments over pedantics without any concept of simplification and implication, in several threads, is trolling. The sudden nature of it recently also brings about the conclusion as it can't be attributed to your normal behaviour.....
heck you've even made the golden rule of abandoning the original issue at hand and resorted to bringing personal insults into this
I thought what i "quoted" (note the quotation marks for an actual quote) would be reasonably taken as evidence for evidence that white helmets do improve rider visibility. And have since offered to locate teh source, AND admitted that there are many obvious confounders for such a statistic
or it's because i'm defending what i said, which is typically what i do when i beleive i'm correct. Do you honestly think i just made up that statistic?
You're being quite aggressive, is it because you've realised we both look like asshats right now and want to shift it onto me by undermining my credibility, or because you're trolling? Here i'll counter it by throwing some nice terms i learnt in PHIL105g - straw man and false dilemma arguments; you used both of them and they are both false :P
and i do know everything - or at least keep quiet when i dont so as to maintain the illusion
oooh and here comes a concession! (sp?) makes us seem reasonable and whatnot (and see there me implying you aren't being, which is typical of a troll from both our sides)
a minimal effect or a negligible effect, you still meant that it wasn't worth the effort. Statistics from either ACC or LTSA (still finding them; danae has my roadcode) suggest otherwise and I put that forward.
so wtf are you raving on about a butterfly for? you mean that it might somehow add up or.... wtf? I'd concede that if one throws enough shit at a wall, some of it might stick, but if that shit isn't sticky you may as well not bother. You said shit wasn't sticky - i think it is.
followed by another personal attack!
not in any depth whatsoever.
I do, from time to time, you may notice, admit when i'm wrong or that i'm speculating, or repeating information i've acquired that isnt 1st hand.
I also tend to simplify complicated explanations, and use terminology that isn't necessarily accurate in a technical sense but is adequate in laymans terms. It's just easier.
I tell you what, old chap; this bait is delicious!
I believe the personal attacks began in the other thread when you said I would be jealous of you or something.
Also, the half hat refers to previous heated debate.
Pot...kettle...black, andrew.
You also resort to the odd personal attack here and there too, so dont be a hypocrite.
Andrew, I dont mind looking like an "asshat", the day the club stops bickering is the day something is horribly wrong. Well if I could remember all the stuff from critical thinking I could probably write the perfect argument....lets see if I can find my phil105g book...must be here somewhere.
So this simple thread descends into a not-related personal debate.
Trolling 101:
- Avitars/Screen names are aliases, use peoples first name to belittle them in the eyes of on-lookers.
- Quoting specific points that are in contradiction as a verbatim statement is nice and undermining without a point or intent to be countered.
- Cast a target's words in a specific way that can call out intention that doesn't exist and further undermine the person.
- When all else fails do the internet bully thing and say your going to go around to their house.
- And lastly opinions can't be compared, proven or waged as a score, they can only be expressed, accepted and refuted - telling someone they are wrong will annoy them and they will forget that you have no foundation and then they will simply argue - makes them look like the bad guy.
I reckon (after reading allot of opinions on this) that white helmets are a bit more visible but careful and skillful riding is paramount because the most dangerous people on the road are probably too stupid to register a neon sign let alone a white helmet, all they notice is the bus that bigger than they are.
Not to mention that carelessness and apathy often befalls people and they sometimes simply don't look, indicate, break, etc etc.
With apathy and ignorance you could be plastered high-vis or not.
Why not be visible as well as cautious?
