OK Mark, if you're confident about it. (not for me, cos I don't want it) - will you say that any sale is subject to a vin check - and if it fails on anything except what you've already advised, the sale is off?

Failing that, do you have enough cash to run it through the test yourself (do you get 28 days for those too?) and post up the "fail" sheet for people to look at?

I am confident about the bike, but it is up to the buyer to look at the bike and inspect it for themselves i have noted the best i can i myself cannot see any revin problems apart from what is listed but withut putting it through a check i cannot be cmpletely and utterly certain the bike rides fine and apart from discs being right on limit i cannot see a problem.

No i cannt put it through a revin as i do not have the funds, hence it is for sale, if i had the money for a revin i would just keep it. But i have bills to pay.

The thing is Mark, that decision is the certifiers', not the new owners.

If the Repair Cert Issuer is unhappy about the status of some repaired part because he was unable to inspect it throughout its' repair progress, or there isn't suitable photographic evidence to back what you claim, then he will require further tests and examination from a specialist - read - expensive.

None of this may apply to your case, as the damage was all cosmetic, but the onus is on the new owner to demonstrate that to the certifier with evidence, not just talk, so make sure photos come with the bike that show a repair trail.

Nice bike. My Daughter would love it.

The only damage that wasn't cosmetic that I was aware of is the swingarm and he's got the old one and a new one so that should be ok.

As long as there are photos or documentation to demonstrate that, all SHOULD be cool.

The main problem is, the Repair Certifier was not involved from the beginning of the repair. This is a big no no. The job MUST be shown to the Repair Certifier BEFORE you lift a finger. HE will tell you what you must do, and then you must do that and show him invoices etc, or else he will force you to disassemble and test any part of the bike that HE holds in question.

I assume that excludes fairings. If that's the case there should be no problem as I don't think SM has swapped out the swingarm yet. I.e. it could still be taken to the certifier before anything is done (apart from the fairings which he's done already).

The RC said to me he didn't care about anything cosmetic.

If the swingarm is munted, definitely do NOT remove it yet. The new owner should take the bike to his chosen RC and pay the fee, and see what needs to be replaced. If the swingarm is on that list, show the RC the replacement item (clean it - do not paint it yet) and if he approves, then paint and fit it.

Seems to me there's money to be made here by SM and Discotex.

Seeing as you two are the only ones confident of it's ability to pass, Disco why don't you front with the Re-VIN costs then split what ever profit you make. I'd say Disco gets 80% and SM gets 20%.

Dont forget to agree on the initial value of the bike though (I'd suggest $2500)

If she's as good as you say should be easy money.

That's about what I reckon, from what I can find on trademe, and a mate who is a wrecker.

So how is $3000 cheap Mark?

$3000 is cheap if the thing breezes through as easily as he says.

Trouble is as everybody knows, life is about managing risks - in my view $3000 is too expensive given the risk. $2500 between mates (assuming Discotex and SM are mates) would be about right.

If you don't know SM from a bar of soap or you question his judgement then it'd only be worth what you could part it out for. It'd just be a nice bonus if you could get it re-vinned at a reasonable cost.

i work at a repair certifacation centre and basicly if the bike has been written off it will need to have a repair cert. If you dnt have all previous work signed off it will cost the new owner a shit load to get this bike back on the road. but if you are willing to put money where your mouth is it will give new owner piece of mind. And yes i was very interested in the bike.

i have not dne any repairs as yet apart from the cosmetics, i have just fixed the fairings because i was panning to take it to a repair certifier to show them the swingarm and alternator cover, i have a spare swingarm and an alternator cover but havn't changed any of that yet... i can't put money where mouth is because i don't have any sadly otherwise i wouldn't be selling my baby.

i have put up all the pictures and info i can buyer would have to look at it for themself.

the nly non cosmetic damage would be the swingarm because the race stand bobbin mount got bent up and munted that part a little...

i crawled all over this bike for a couple of hours prior to forking over the cash.

if you are still interested you can PM me or call me on 021 250 76 71

i wish i could be of more hep regarding the revin process but this stuff is all new to me.

    Cheers: Mark
