Yeah I heard and read about the emails, with the media doing their spin on the subject, no doubt trying to make it sensational to sell to the public and sell papers, magazines, airtime, whatever. Ive been around and noticed how the media works well enough to know that usually what they say is one part truth and two parts bollocks. Sure the coppas want to make sure that they recieve their working budget for the same amount next year and to keep some in power, that involves handing out tickets. But Ive misbehaved enough on the roads of NZ to know that there is alot that happens that does not end up with the issuing of a ticket. If they allways did that I would have started behaving along time ago.

Oh, so you was a cager back then??? We never heard them until they was behind us with the siren/lights and I only heard them well when I pulled my helmet off. In fact most times I was just getting told off for doing something minor and as long as I replied at the right time, I didnt have to pay too much time listening. Although there was one magpie (if you dont know what that is then your not old enough) who I knew really well and who would pull me up every Friday, just to say hello and have a yack. My friends thought I was a lucky bugger never getting a ticket after being talked to for so long. I never did tell them that he was a friend and we was just shooting the breeze.

Association president Greg O'Connor also said the reality was that quotas existed.
"Every police officer knows that police have quotas and wryly smile whenever they see senior police stand up and say they don't.
"They are dressed up many other ways but the reality is that there is an expectation of members that are out there, that they will write so many tickets to certain categories."

Minor traffic infringements are tax, even the coppers admit it.

So even though Ive had almost a lifetime of misbehaving on the roads and pretty much giving Mr Plod a reason to ticket me, why has (s)he not? Im guessing that there is enough dumbarses, doing enough dumbarse things on the road. So that when I come along doing something I shouldn't be, Mr(s)/Miss/Ms Plod's quota is full/caught/issued, that they just cruise on by?

Thats a question I'd like answering.
I saw '63' clearly on the scanner on the dash but no time/date. I dont belive it would take rocket science to have it included. Might make reaching their quotas harder though!

They should run a system that take a digital photo of target thats speeding with the time, date and speed. But thats far to honest for them.

I can highlight that for you , ask the question where does the money go and how much money is generated


lets say those quota figures are true , ( even if they are not the money is quite large )

400x ( average fine ..$80 ?) =32 000 per year per copper JUST for dangerous driving

I remember reading last year about the speed cameras in Sydney and how much one of them generated ,,, it was a huge amount

The money is either going to come from the government as a yearly budget , ( from our tax ) OR User PAYS
