    eek Lunatic Truckies

To the driver of the Goldlink truck on the Desert Road at 11:00am this morning - the one leading going North - can I say that you are a prize fucking idiot

You pulled out to pass another truck when you could clearly see me approaching - I had my light on and was travelling at 105km/hr

I had time to pull over & park as the two trucks passed side by side using both lanes

A complaint was lodged with the Highway Patrol in Waiouru

Sounds a bit like the Fonterra tanker we met between Whangamomona and Te Kuiti, coming round a (for him) left hand turn, completely on our side of the road.
If one of our party wasnt skilled at riding in the grass at the side of the road, he'd would have become be a truck hood ornament.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Fark man, that's absolute bullshit! Guys like that shouldn't be on our roads! Lucky you were on to it or you'd be another caption in the newspaper. Shame you didn't grab his details and ring the prick up and abuse him!

Are you saying that having your headlight on made no difference? That new law is going to be a waste of time. I'll bet the truckie saw you and just didn't give a fuck.

    Glad you are OK.

Most truckies in NZ are good drivers, however for the ones that think they own the road/take pleasure in almost making you a hood ornament, a couple of well placed sparkplugs will have them slowing down/stopped in no time.

I always keep a couple of rocks in my r/h breast pocket. You can 'discharge' them over your shoulder with your left hand while grabbing the throttle with the right.

Most truckies are ok though and quite a few are bikers too (I've come across more dickhead cops than I have dickhead truckers) but maybe the original post should be on a trucking forum?

All good until you ass off over the handlebars and land on your front! Good concept but be very wary of carrying things like stones in your pockets.

Most truckies are like all roadusers, courtious and fine, then we ALL do a stupid manoevre. But what pisses me off is the passing lane,1 truck pulls out to pass another, usually an uphill lane so cars and bikes can pass trucks.By the time the truck is passed the lane ends and you are still behind 2 trucks. Why they can't think ok 3 cars, let them go,then I can go passed. This takes less time than truck passing. Also most truckies drive the same road daily so know how long passing lanes are, where they are and if on a hill.

They are nice smooth oval rocks, a bit like my testicles (slightly different sizes too) and I hope I never land on them either!

Cages do the same thing.... To bikes.
They should use their mirror, and think, " I'll let the bikes go, and then spend the rest of the time passing the car in front..."

It is a bit of an education thing really.....

As a part time truck driver I can tell ya right now that most of the time it is a misconception by cagers that the trucks are holding them up... Seen it happen many times where a cager has gone and passed a truck, only to slow it down as the cager isn't familiar or scared of the road. Obviously there are exceptions on sections of road like the Kaimais or northern end of the Desert Road. Momentum is the key, and I'll bet most of those brain dead cagers don't even realise they're in a passing lane until the truck ahead of them has already pulled out to pass. When they do realise, they'll sit in the right lane and take the whole fucking passing lane to overtake, not giving a fuck on what/who is in their mirror, so the rear truck wouldn't have a shit show after letting brain dead cagers pass. If I had a dollar for everytime I've seen that, I'd be a happy man, so I don't blame the truckies for doing that.
