    Insurance companies SUCK!

ok so basically short version of my story is...I took my bike to Hamilton Honda to get some work done (choke cable and find out why it wasn't starting which was a simple fix) and payed $280 for the services which was good enough for me.

next day while it was parked at work some idiot backed into it with his car and caused $1300 worth of damage (as quoted by Hamilton Honda) now it's been sitting in the shop for over a month waiting for his insurance (because i have none) to pay out on it...

have rung the insurance company multiple times as have Honda trying to find out whether they're going to pay out on the repairs or not and they keep comming back with the same answer that they need more information from the client (guy who ran it over) since I live in a flat and people use my desk all the time the paper with his number on it seems to have been lost even though I looked at the notes i had taken on the matter and felt they were in a safe place for the whole month I left them there until the night i go to actually call him it's the one note thats missing (everything else is there)

so now i can't be fucked waiting for insurance as i NEED the bike back now so i can do my research assignment for uni which is now a month and 1/2 over due because of this shit

BUT i have no money to fix the bike so if anyone has odd jobs or chores they don't like doing I am MORE than willing to do them for you for min wage (under the table of course) also have very good skills at grooming cars (dare i say it but they are useful for somethings)

so yeah if your reading this...PLEEEASE help a guy get his bike back on the road so he can enjoy the pleasures of motorcycling once more
You can ride a motorcycle any time of the month

Tis sounds like bad news for you.

Forget about the bike for a bit and get your uni work done.

Being in the right and hard done by quite often isn't enough and you need to get your priorities straight.

If you can't afford the $1300, then get the bike back and do the minimum you need to get it roadworthy again.

Shit happens. Try and minimise the impact it has on your life and future.

Did u file a police report?

The insurance company will dick you around for as long as possible to try and avoid paying for this. Because you are not their customer they really don't care and wont go to bat for you against their own customer unless they are forced to.

When you think about it you shouldn't need to contact the person because they have all their details yes?

    Its a delay tactic.

Contact the police and see what your options are, they may allow you to file a complaint against the dude (and thus put pressure on his insurance company) which will show them that you aren't going to give up.

I am not too sure how much effect this will make but i would also make mention to the person at the insurance company: you are annoyed at how you have to chase their customer up when their customer was obviously at fault (as per police report) and that you will fight this if you have to.

Oh and FIND THAT BIT OF PAPER!

Its their fault for not acting on behalf of their customer when they are at fault.

Forget the other party's insurance company, just file a claim at the small claims court (aka disputes tribunal) against the other driver. That will soon get you the results you require.

Claim the actual damage, additional costs that you have faced over having to take alternative transport, and anything else that is associated with the damage.

As it was the idiot in the car who caused the damage it is up to him to recover the costs from his insurance, not you.

You are pissing into the wind pleading with the insurance company. Their job is to fuck you about as long as possible until you go away. Also, legally they have no obligation under law to pay you jack diddly squat.

If you want closure, get some quotes to repair it, and put him in small claims for it. Under law, he is directly responsible to you for costs, and you should brutally pursue him for it.

Be sure to explain to the SC adjudicator, that you were reassured by him and his insurance company that you would be paid out swiftly, and you have been very patient and done all you were asked, but no such compensation has been forthcoming, and as you have had no transport for some months, you are hoping for a swift resolution to this.

So you're trying to get the insurer to pay for a claim but you don't have any details of the guys that did the damage?

How does that make the insurer suck?

While I sympathise man, I cannot see how your bike being hit by a moron in a cage (without you ON it) can impact your Uni work
Thats a bullshit excuse for not doing your school work- the bike would have required a few minutes a day at most in phone calls dude thats a cop out

As for the other driver- have his address? Head round with 5 or 6 mates in a van- just go to door alone and tell him to sort the insurance on your bike- nicely- but make sure he sees all your mates too- worked for me last year when some prick carparked my cage- after the 'personal' visit his insurer was on phone an hour later with the good news
    Just ride.

You got a problem because his insurance has insured HIM against liability for damage he may incur therefore if you dont take action against him then there is no liability issue for them to settle.Without his details you are stuffed and the insurance company wont give them to you.
