Would the site admin consider the request to remove thread tags?
I dont see them actually having any benefit apart from allowing cowards the ability to anonymously abuse or insult the thread participants.

if there is an abusive tag, report it like you would a post, but just comment to look at the tags, be specific if you can.
I have infracted a number of people for abuse via tags, I will also tell people who wrote the abusive tag, so they can not do it 'hidden'.
the thread starter can remove tags.
I think they are meant to aid in searching. I tend to just use the full text search myself though.
i Agree get rid of them, mind you I asked the same thing a few months ago and got slammed
Ive run out of fucks to give
Damn.
Busted.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Yes they are supposedly an indexing tool, but I take great glee in putting some snide or off-colour remark in them. I think they are a lot of fun.
I vote to retain them. As has been stated, the thread originator may remove them at his whim, and moderators will infract as required for abuse.
Maybe some sort of game can be played with the tags?

"I am a licenced motorcycle instructor, I agree with dangerousbastard, no point in repeating what he said."
"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
True that, there are some funny bastards around for sure, and theres the ones that tag a thread (hypothetically lets say, attention whore) you may remove it, it pops up again, you report it and a message come back, I will keep an eye on xxxxx. Could even be a person you least expect, all this is hypothetical naturally.
The best thing with the tags is, they force you to summarise the thread in under 25 characters. Good fun.

I think tags are fun. They are also a great way to search if they are used as I imagine they were intended to.
I have a few favorite tags that I use, they dont appear to cause offense, and I hope to continue to use them for my own amusement, and for the amusement of the recipient
Mind you, some people never start threads so your ability to give them a bit of stick via that means is not available![]()
I also agree. Remove the tags and the rep system and the site will become alot more mature.
I only notice tags when someone in the thread mentions them...otherwise I never see/look at them....
That being said, they mostly make me laugh when I read them. So , I guess my wishy-washy opinion is that they are okay and leave them be.
Yup...
The tags on this thread are only the second ones I have looked at EVER.
The last time was when somebody said along the lines of "Who's the funny bugger that put such and such in the tags"
The tags on this one gave me a giggle...
I vote for leaving them.... who said this site had to be totally serious?
Edit: One disadvantage with them though is... that you can find threads that are really old...
I just read through one that I initially thought "Bloody Hell, Not Again.. when will this guy learn?!!!" Added some rep to some really good posts... then realised it was August 2008 I was looking at!
Good thing I didn't post in it to dredge it...
Note to self: Take more care... and be careful not to thread dredge...
