First ART (Advanced Rider Training) day of the season run by AMCC.
Who's gonna be there?
Me.............
Yep![]()
I'll be there in novice slow.
About to send my application via post. Planning on doing Group 1 (Novice slow) or 2
A couple of questions that come to mind however are :
- Approx how fast would the bunch doing Group 1 be riding at (on avg) ? (how about Group 2)
- Is it OK to change to Group 2 if you think it more suitable?
- Have seen a few threads stating track conditions at Puke are dangerous etc. I myself have not seen the track - does anyone know if they have been fixed?
I would like to improve my cornering and hope this improves my body and bike positioning.
Cheers!
PS. Found this useful
popping my cherry in novice fast, paid and confirmed![]()
Hoping to turn up to this !..
First time at a track day (on a bike at least!)
Hoping their are enough spaces for me do a pay on the day job (anyone know how popular this has been so far ?) as I must admit I don't fancy doing my first one in the rain !!!
Still need to get my oggy knobs sorted before next weekend, and a back protector... crap... (hadn't realised the back protector was on the "must have" list)
Hi bud,
To give an answer to your questions,
1, Group 1-2 would be circulating in about the 1:40-50 mark (fast groups ciculate in about 0:59-1:05's). Its hard to put a kmh figure on it but people are able to hit very high speeds down the back straight dependent on their bike of course. It would be fair to say there is a wide spectrum of speeds in groups 1-2.
2, If you or a travelling marshal (me) think you should be in another group then either you should see the office dweller about moving or the marshal will move you, this will be for yours and others saftey and of course your enjoyment.
3, Pukekohe has a good high grip surface (in the wet castrol corner can be slippery thanks to the drifters!). The reference to danger is directed at a couple of corners with limited 'run off' AMCC protect these areas with cushions of straw filled bags tied together. Pukekohe is a dam sight safer than the public roads regardless.
Look me up on the day crazyv and I'll help and advise if you wish, look for blue bikes....a GSX1400 & R1, I'll be the dude in the BKS leathers that appear to have shrunk a little over the winter!

They're bottled filled bails... like plastic milk bottles etc
but then again, you roving marshals don't seem to be needing to be picked up very often![]()

Try ''lifestyle imports'' for a back protector. Very good prices![]()
