    Stroud takes on the Mairs...

And smashes them. As if it were going to go any different.

Any way first things first a massive thanks goes out to Scracha for letting me take his bike for a gentle pootle. That man deserves a DB.

We turn up to the test day nice and early only to find the first car on the track had throwen a leg out of bed and dumped oil all the way from the exit of t1 and half way down the middle straight. Right on the racing line. Thanks Mr Robbinson who ever you are. After we set up I set out on the ZX6 for my first real ride since January. The bike felt great, even if it was wearing 5 year old slicks. Nice hot day had my girl timing me she cocked it up a bit getting me confused with another bike but the times she did get me were looking pretty good. Roughly low 14's high 13's. Not bad considering thats what I was doing on the SRAD. Any way bike felt good I clicked with it pretty much straight away and felt good for race day.

Up nice and early and get set up, wait around for qualifying and finaly get out there. This is the first time I have ridden the long track in the dry since round 3/07. My first ever race (2.22 was my previous best). so was pretty interesting learning how to attack it fast. Bike felt shit and qualifyed 27th with a 2.09 (new pb) ahead of clive . I was not happy with this as the day before I felt right at home on the bike.

    Race 1.
Shit start must have been near on last in to turn one but made some moves around the out side and started chasing the group in front of me.
I could see Warfy, Gah and Mark all ahead of me and started seeing where I could make my move past. I got past Warfy and Gah then last lap flag. Started chasing Mr Bennett as hard as I could then Through the long left on to the old track I could see I was faster than him and thought right Dunlop it is, Mark went high and I stayed in tight carying a bit more speed than him and he just started tightening his line and turning in on me. We very, very nearly came together and freaked out a little. Both in a gear to high we chop back a cog and its a drag race to the line. Luky for me the old ZX6 gets of its arse and I beat him by 5/8ths of fuck all. Very happy with the way that race went as I got a 2.04 some thing and was the 5th F2 bike home.

    Race 2.

Got an awesome start and found my self with Darren, Phil, Gah and some others. We were all so close and having a really good race then I missed a gear comming out of the hair pin and lost a bit of time to them. Managed to fight my way back and caught up again. Last lap I was being held up by Phill on the mighty 1000 and could see that I was alot faster through the back section. If it did not have those little straights in it I could have shot by. But it does so I couldnt. The long left hander (great spot for posing for the camera if I do say so my self) was my second to last shot at getting him. I caught right up on him and was ready to go and got this bloody scottish voice in my head "Dunny crrrrash me bike luk". FUCK there goes my shot tried again in Dunlop caught right on to his back wheel and on the exit of the turn it turned in to a horse power game that I could just not compete in. Ended up 15th in that race with a 2.04.1 some thing and 4th or 5th F2 bike home.

All in all a great week end felt good to be back on the horse after a heafty break from the scene.
Even better that I jumped on an unfamiliar bike and got straight to mid pack.

Massive thanks to Scracha again, Your awesome dude. It's not true what they say.
Andy for changing me tyres, Jimmy for turning up(great to see you again bruva). Drew for tell me to harden the fuck up on numerous occasions.
Tara for helping out with me tyre warmers and stuff. Deano for letting me pinch some power (and showing me how its done lap time wise) and every body that was cheering me on and offering words of encourigment (not spelt right but who cares)

Cheers guys hope to see you at the next round.

Oh I'd just like to add that in race 2 I beat Biggles. This made me happy because on the test day I could not quite keep up with him and that made me a little angry.

Mega skills small Mair. If I had any talent you'ld be in trouble, but it looks like I will have my hands full just trying to keep up with Steevie. Fun report to read too.

I too remember that well actually. Could have had some thing to do with the fact I was not meant to be riding a bike at all and was riding choppa's spare bike. That would have gone down well if I tossed that away eh?

I reckon the Mair brothers in house smack talk in the pits was just as interesting as the racing!
