    Clip-ons vs standard bars

Previously, I'd thought clip-ons were only useful because they were in a more suitable position when you're crouched over the bike. But after doing a track day on my bandit 400, I thought it seemed harder to brake hard for the corner and turn in with standard bars? I'm not entirely sure if it was just I was out of practice with riding the bandit or not.
Thinking about it, it seems to me that when braking hard with clip-ons, your arms are straight to support your weight, but you can still steer while keeping your arms straight because your arms are more in line with the axis of the steering head. But with standard bars, because they're higher, your arms aren't in line with the steering head and in order to turn the bars you have to bend one of your elbows slightly, making it more difficult.

I'm not sure I've got this right, it could be I just wasn't used to hard braking on the bandit, but I can't test it without taking the bandit for another track day (can't safely brake that hard for a corner on the road).

    Any comments?

Get some stomp grip and use ya legs to hold ya back, give ya more feel if your arms are relaxed going into a corner !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

At lower speeds i would imagine/feel that straight bars would be easier too turn in because of the extra leverage.
