nothing wrong with changing bot at the same time. Service reqirements put filter change at every SECOND oil change once motor is run in.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
I change the oil filter at every oil change. It's a cheap paper jobbie on the GS, and well worth doing for peace of mind.
Know it's been said many, many times but regular oil and filter changes are probably the best maintenance you can perform on your bike (well apart from tyre pressure checks, chain adjustment, carb balancing, valve checks etc, etc).
I always change my oil filter with every oil change. It's so cheap, doesn't make sense not to.
Regarding where you can take old oil, coolant and other illegal substances you want to dispose of, just about any service station will take it off your hands. That, and old batteries.
If they won't (they should) just lather it over your body, and get some photos taken of you looking all bronzed like you've always wanted![]()
I'm with you, I ALWAYS dump the filter with the oil, that way you are not immediately contaminating your oil supply with up to 15 - 25% old oil.Originally Posted by Pwalo
Why do they say in the "service checks" to replace the filter only every 2nd oil change? 'Cos they don't expect the rest of the vehicle to (a) last as long as the engine and/or (b) don't expect the same owner to have the vehicle when the engine goes from fine running to fumey and smokey.

It will only cost about 25$ max - I have a full list of the aftermarket ones that will fit the ZZR if you want to investigate them.
But, its easy as taking a bolt off and slotting a new one in, and it can save your bikes life in the long run - I took my filter out of my ZZR after I binned and wrote it off and it was pretty much disintergrated - after 4000k...
So just look into it no preasure just some friendly advice![]()
cheers mate. will take that into consideration.Originally Posted by John
