I like the looks of them but am surprised by what they weigh. Price is steep but if you want one and have the money I am sure they will be bought.

Re other bikes, I am still waiting for KTM to announce a 690 Adv. They seem to have dropped the ball on that.

No they were waiting for the next Dakar to release it, but got shat on by the organisers who have changed the capacity maximum limit to 450cc.

    Mark my words.

They also changed the rules for the 1000cc bikes too,yet they still make them and they sell well.So no reason to can the 690 Adv for that reason as they'd still sell.
I'd love the new Tenere as I'm sure it'd be more reliable than my old shitter. But for that money,I think I'd buy a WR450 and fit a big tank and be more than happy.

    I've seen a rumour about a 690 SMT.
I dunno how far behind the Adv will be.

Did you read what I posted, or are you taking the piss?

The release was scheduled to coincide with the next Dakar. The Dakar organisers shat on KTM big time by changing the capacity rules so they can't race the 690 in the Dakar.

I did NOT say that KTM wouldn't ever come up with a 690 Adv.

They're allowing the pro's to ride them with restrictors in 2010, only amateurs with restrictors in 2011 and noone in 2012.

    Sorry oh great one .
I didn't realise they were doing a release like that as it still seems up in the air to wether or not they've even got a production version for the general public.

Meaning that the 690's could return to dakar no holds barred in 2012? Why all this crap for this year then? Or am I mis-understanding?

I think he means in 2012 noone can ride a 690 even if its restricted.

Either that or he means 2012 is a write off cos the world is ending thanks to the Mayans!

Nothing above 450cc from 2012 (at Dakar).

FIM will probably follow suit though.

A few of the other rallies the top guys run 450's anyway as they're too technical for the bigger bikes.

So KTM can't say they don't have any 450 class rally bikes ready.

What they were doing back in the piece was sleeving down 660's to 450cc and they were very succsessful.
