Learned TM in the 70,s...easy to learn how to do it...good to do if you are stressed I practice it every now and then but never seem to keep it up for more than a few months. But thinking about it now I,m riding bikes again it could be beneficial ..would help with concentration.

Give a man a bank he can rob the WORLD !!!
Tried similar at work a couple of times as they are into that stuff. Not called TM but is similar ... doing the mind thing to an external mantra for 20 minutes. If you let yourself go and just do it it is certainly relaxing and clears the mind nicely. Oddly, I noticed that for the rest of the day after the midday meditation that my focus, attention and concentration were markedly improved over normal.
If you're thinking about it, give it a go. It's not all that freaky. Proper TM is a bit more involved and structured than what we did but the actual meditation is pretty much the same. (And yes, we got to make the 'om' (aka 'ohm' and 'aum' sounds).

I got into it in the 90's and practice occasionally (very occasionally) still. It certainly delivered what they claimed for me but like most people I struggled to maintain it. I also became a little concerned about their business-like approach to teaching the techniques and the cost of learning "advanced" techniques. It felt a little AMWAY to me. I have friends who practice budhist meditation for similar benefits without the financial downsides. Still, I don't regret spending what I did, and the guy who taught me in Hawkes Bay was really helpful during a hard time in my life.
I went for a ride about 3 months ago.
and ended up in a temple place out the back of south auckland.
strange outfit.. monks with bald heads .dont think it was TM.. but sort of.
