I guess that's a personal choice - price or greater safety. If you find the minimum acceptable standard defined by our law as okay then definitely shop on price. Let me re-phrase that - there is nothing wrong with the minimum standard persee, it's just a choice of weather you want to exceed it.

My personal preference, I'd rather have a higher safety rating. Head injuries are particularly difficult to recover from.

You, my friend, NEED to read this.

    http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/ge...iew/index.html

That is the article I refer to when talking about helmet "safety".

Motorcyclist Magazine lost all their advertising from Shoei and Arai over that. Helmets shouldn't be designed to pass tests OR meet standards. They should be designed to act as an exoskeletal impact mitigation device.

Just a possible option Ms Piggy?

We have a XS Shoei Raid II here that is no longer used. Its just over 2 years old, but mint and has hardly been used. My partner bought it for occasional pillion purposes, but found it a little too tight and gave her a headache. She purchased an Arai Chaser nearly 6 months ago, so it has sat in a box since then.
It hasn't been dropped and it would be pretty bloody cheap. You'd be welcome to check it out and try it for size.

Snell has been around since before those helmets where as SHARP ratings were given after those most (if not all) of those helmets were already in production, ie they weren't designed to pass SHARP.

I definitely gave it a look when buying and wouldn't trust a one or two star helmet.

Nothing is designed to pass SHARP. It ISN'T a standard. It is a Government Agency Testing Regime.

Read that article I posted above.
