OK opinions please

I know I'm opening a can of worms here but need opinions on what to buy, just rid of my 90 ZRR250, ridden daily for 60 odd clicks and the odd weekend trip. Quite happy with my 250 so not looking to go any bigger, am looking to buy either new Ninja 250 or Hyosung GT250R, ridden both for test rides but would like some opinions before I go and spend my dosh.

If you legally can, get something bigger. If not, neither of those.

The new kwaka is a girls bike, it's cool but girly as shit. The tiny back tyre just looks so fucken feminine/weird. Unless your a really small guy you'll look hilarious on it, and the hyo 250 is slooooooowwwww. Slower than the ZZR you had, I know because I had a ZZR 250 and i've ridden the hyo 250.

Maybe if your set on a 250 of the sports variety, go for the old overpriced CBR. It's quick, reliable, and better than the Hyo, and i'm pretty sure it's quicker than all afore mentioned.

If your set on getting the Kwaka or the Hyo, honestly, if you have the money, get the Kwaka.
It is cool, just let down by how tiny they made it. IMO, I do really believe it is better than the hyo.

If you get a hyo, make sure the cam chain tensioner is replaced, otherwise you'll spend $900 fixing it if it breaks

Have you ridden anything bigger? If not, you should. I suggest something simple and fun to ride and not intimidating, like an SV650, or a Hyo Comet 650 - get on the open road for an hour on it and putter around at the speed limit, and then come back and tell us you still want a 250.

Lots of good advice there, as you will always find. The ZZR (not that i have ridden one) would be similar to the Ninja, the Hyo is a bit slower and also a larger framed bike.

If you are a small fella then most likely the Ninja. Seeing have you have ridden them both, which one do you like the best?

I've got a '90 ZZR myself and from sitting on my friend's Ninja 250r they really did seem almost identical apart from the different bodywork.

Go for test rides for sure, I just wouldn't expect the 250r to be a massive step up from your ZZR (unless your ZZR is/was showing major signs of age)

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Not a hyosung. Just read the threads on KB. They all break down. However, there are plenty on here who can help you fix it

Why not get a 400?

Insurance.

If you're insured as a restricted rider and go to make a claim on your 400 that you've just binned, or you need the third party to cover that pretty new Merc or BMW that you banged into in that one fraction of a second that you were riding without due care and attention, then what are the insurance company going to tell you?





Kodos, I think you will be disappointed with either of the brand new twin cylinders if you're used to a ZZR. 250 production peaked in the 90s, I think that's where you should look.
There are lots of CBR250s hanging around on Trademe for much less than the price of a new twin. You'll also get much better resale on them, in the way that people don't see a difference between '91 and '92, but they see a HUGE difference in brand new '10 and a '09 with 1500kms on it.
Keep the extra money you'll save by not buying a brand new 250 in a savings account and pull it out when you get your full, and you'll get the chance to buy a super flash big bike. You'll get a lot more from that.

Sit your fulls and buy a 400cc. I am skinny and short too but am riding a Fireblade. Dont be discourage it is all about how you handle the bike..
