Driven one.
At the end of the day, they're a Holden - so the build quality isn't the best in the world.
A lot of car for the bucks though.
And you can hear the world's oil resources drying up as you drive.
IMO, the SS Wagon is a better deal - no 4WD to eat tyres and increase the fuel consumption. And a bit lower, so less prone to rolling round corners.
Check out the 4x4 conversion - a cast iron diff bolted to the alloy sump.Straight out of the '50's....they go well, but the engineering is dumb fuck basic.
In and out of jobs, running free
Waging war with society
expect ~20L/100km around town... maybe 15-16L/100km overall.
(around 15% worse than SS wagon) - they arnt cheap to run.
...and I don't wanna die, just want to ride my motorcy...cle (Arlo Guthrie)
We currently have a 2008 Swift sport which is around 7.3-7.4 litres per 100 km, so it will be quite a contrast, but have another baby come, so a bigger vehicle needed, we are country bumpkins and do a bit off road and it's for the wife, who won't let me buy a 4x4 ute, not sure what we will buy, but is one vehicle running through my head. Wife drives like a nana so wouldn't be quite as bad??
My work truck is a cross 6 crewman. About 12 l/100 average, goes down to 10 and up to 18 towing.
David must play fair with the other kids, even the idiots.
I could have got a mate to PM you but he has sold it and got an Outback which he reckons is a way better car, even off road. The reasons for selling were spares availability, depreciation and the horrific fuel consumption.
When I drove it it did not impress. Sluggish for a V8, more like a Land Cruiser. Looks nice but a lot of the rugged trim is plastic. IMO there are not bad cars, just there are better ones out there.
Yes, I have driven one. Comparing it to our 5.7 Berlina I'd have say that wasn't a patch on the (slightly modified) Berlina in terms of ride/handling but what is the application? I'd bet a pound to a knob of goat's shit that the CX8 will pull a boat off the ramp with greater ease than our Berlina.
Courses for horses.
buy a toyota prado
seriously though you don't need a massive fag wag to cart kids gear around in. We get along just nicely in a honda spazz (jazz) with two kids under 5. I have a hilux double cab 2wd for the towing and load carrying. Spazz gets 20k/l on the open road and the hilux does 12 k/l.
Alcohol. The cause of and solution to all lifes problems.
I have the Cross eight ute. I like it but as everyone has said they do like to drink fossil fuel. They are a little higher than the standard car therefore you loose some handling, They also dont appear to be very powerful for a 5.7 litre V8, probably because they are all wheel drive and a bit heavier. They definitly have thier place just be aware your gas bill will double from what you are using now. Have you thought of doing what i done, buy mum a good cheapie for every day use and then use the SW for family outings etc. Dont have to worry about the mess left by kids and the unexplained dents and scratces that mysteriosly appear
I was expecting you to tell me to buy a box of Joeys, Meanie.![]()
