Googled .. was quite easy to find.

Cemetery Circuit is a temporary motorcycle street racetrack in downtown Wanganui, New Zealand. It was named because the track circles the old town cemetery. The daylong meeting is traditionally held on Boxing Day (26 December) each year and has been running since 1951. It attracts around 10,000 spectators and some of the best New Zealand motorbike racers to compete on the tight one-mile street circuit. It also has a nickname: “Southern Hemisphere’s Isle of Man”.

    Dodgy maths indeed.

    1.5k in 49 seconds

    is

    1.83k's in a minute

    or

    110.2 km/hour.

    Seems a reasonable average.

They used to have a street circuit up near paratutu rock years ago, it was quiet a small track from memory. I recon you should look at a track some where around the city centre rather than out at Bell Block, it would make it a better draw card for the public.

Awww now there's an idea that rocks Lol shame it would take millions to manage !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Prior to Parirutu there used to a circuit at the old airport. Technically it was a road circuit but there was a short metalled section. Some famous names rode there.

Before that again, and before my time here, there was a cicuit at Tikorangi. I'm not sure exactly where it was, but looking at the roads in the area the straights may have been quite long and the roads very narrow for the sort of velocities attainable by today's machinery.

There is a track and a local body that has agreed in theory to this happening, so will just need to re design track lay out to get it on the cooking list, and it will not happen untill next year some time.
