How to check the timing on a GL145

I can check the timing on a car, I just shine the timing light on the thing that goes round as the engine is running (no technical words here) but damned if I can figure out how to check it on my bike.

    Anyone able to help?

There is probably a bung you can unscrew on the alternator side of the engine. take that out and point your timing light at that.
