Youre all good mate. i have read some of your posts and you are going about it all the right way. Spending time learning, asking questions, taking the answers onboard, practising, practising in a safe environment. Good on you. And never feel worried about holding anyone up. just ride your own ride, at your pace. Never ever feel you have to go faster then you are comfortable with cos some one is hustling behind yah. see you next week.
Hey guys (and gals if there are any reading...)
I wouldn't mind joining in on the fun sometime if you are able to put up with another complete greenie?
I have had very little open road exp mind you. Have actually only been out on the open road once as wanted to "test her out" to which I ended in Palmy... Family are up there so was a nice little trip.
Last Sunday it was such a nice day that I wanted to go for a ride before it dawned on me that I didn't really know where to go![]()
I'm sure the others will say that another newbie is fine, and they were fine with me lagging behind last week so you should be more than welcome.
Bit of advice from another newbie: put in a bit of time on the open road if you can, riding over the haywards and then around to Whitby or the other way around the inlet towards Comborne is a beautiful ride and it's an 80k zone, so not quite as fast as the motorway. If you want a few more twisties you could head up Paekakariki Hill Road. Check out this link for the area I'm talking about:

Even just spending a few hours on the motorway going from Wellington City to the Hutt or Porirua and back, or over from Petone to Wainuiomata will give you some important confidence which would be good for the group ride.
Some good advice there, cheers =)
I'm already pretty confident with the straight road/motorway riding seeing as the Wellington to Palmy road is pretty much a straight line. If I recall I sat around the 100-110 mark most of the way with the occasional car pass thrown in. No dramas there.
Haven't done any twisties yet tho so the Paekakariki Hill Road could be a plan for this weekend weather permitting![]()
