    I'm OK so far but what's a 4X4?

Happy fathers day to all those who qualify.

I am off for a loop ride around through Waimate Timaru Temuka Geraldine and back via the MacKenzie, Fairly Tekapo Twizel Omarama and home again!

What more could one ask for, cracker looking day and all!

Did the same last fathers day and had a chat with ...wished me happy fathers day, as is their want!

I will try not to think of Logan and his run today and promise to behave at pedestrian crossings, chow all, have a good day!

Hahahahaha. Well if I can't identify James, then I'd better play safe and aim for EVERY pedestrian. 4x4: it's wot tows my boat, not really for maiming pedestrians.

Happy Fathers Day to you too John and everyone else. Day started well with a fancy ceramic thingy for cooking pizzas on from my daughter and a new filleting knife from Mrs B. Nothing from the boys as they're both overseas.

Have a great ride. I'm celebrating with a run out shortly, probably with the esteemed Chooky. Whilst most bikes are streaming onto the Coro Peninsula on such a perfect day, I'll head off it into the Waikato and the Okoroire Pub for lunch, then the Coro Loop on the way home. Hopefully, if I get pulled by the HWP, I'll get my helmet off fast so they can take pity on an old fella!

    Be safe everyone!

    Geoff

After spending many years in Oz where cars stopping for pedestrians is NOT the norm, I can't believe how many people just rock up to a pedestrian crossing in NZ and step in front of cars without looking. Darwin will sort 'em out I guess.
The silly old bugger slowed down then sped up as she pushed the pram out.

Clearly a ploy to tempt those who stepped off the evolutionary tree at a less than optimum height. She wasn't even watching the car she pushed a pram in front of.....would you push a child into traffic without checking they had actually stopped? Is that how you'd teach kids to cross a road?

The old blokes name wasn't Darwin was it? Relation maybe? He may have gotten frustrated with the slow pace of evolution and decided to help it along a bit.

Nah, I'm not saying the old boy wasn't at fault, but the woman pushing the pram isn't blameless.

I don't know about you guys but I never pushed my kids stroller on to the road till the cars were stopped and the cars behind them were stopped and I had eyeballed the drivers. Seriously. And then I walked beside it.

I realise this is not a "ride report" thread but as I did raise the point here, suffice to say!

233 miles of (fathers day) motorcycling utopia, there surely must be a God!

I was very, very, careful around pedestrian crossings, didn't see one pram or pushchair!

Bloody hell we live in an absolute picturesque paradise, some of the scenes on my ride today were awe inspiring to say the least!

Missed my chat with but he was very much in evidence and had other motorists he seemed to prefer entertaining, thankfully!

    Left at 10:10 home at 18:10 (6:10pm)

Was quite cold first thing and later this evening but what a fantastic ride, Mount Cook area across Pukaki was as good as I have ever seen it tonight and the reflections in Benmore were amazingly clear!

Didn't think about Logan all day!

James, did you manage to get any pics of the cottage yet?

You certainly have sent our family into a fit of interest! Thanks!

Not exactly sure if that is the cottage, (very similar) the only thing I recognise is that sign saying Percy reserve!

Last time up there I had difficulty finding my way around at all, it's changed so much since I lived there!

Well it "was" 1960 when I left, (49 years ago, I was 21), time sure flies when you are having fun!

I have great memories of my time living there! (1955-1960)

Thanks for posting the pics Jim.

The Percy Reserve sign is where the cottage used to be. I'm pretty certain it's the same one you talked about, but I guess that road widening and the new interchange have both conspired to make the area look quite foreign.

The new carpark for Percy Reserve will be a great meeting point for rides though.

I don't think that pointing people at the Percy is how it goes.

The Percy I know best did a bit of work in the gardens there, it was a choice wee spot for such things back then.

Percy was definitely pointing at people on those occasions!

(ladies who shall remain anonymous, it could be someone's great granny now!)
