    Far too much power

    http://msn.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10596092

Mr Pope said police were still working out what type of offending this would cover, but it would probably be crimes prosecuted under the Summary Offences Act, which included disorderly behaviour, vandalism, tagging and indecent exposure.

It would mean those involved would not have to be processed through the lengthy justice system.
I do not like the sound of this.
Picture this, A party at a beach...
its 8 pm and a few trouble makers turn up...
by 9 pm the police turn up and by 10pm everyone at the beach who didn't run fast enough has a CRIMINAL RECCORD...
    - 3 for indecent exposure(aka urinating on that tree over there)
    - 2 for disorderly behavior (that charge is such bullshit, they can do you for yelling out the window of a car)
    - 5 of the trouble makers escaped, only one of them was caught and he is going to court to get off charges of drinking in public

What ever happened to public opinion? The NZ police need to start a forum like this one so they can learn what the masses really want. Who knows, maybe the majority actually want a little violence to spice up thier otherwise dreary lives... maybe they want people to die on the roads because the world is already overpopulated. Who knows? There's only one way to find out.

I think we have finally found an accurate definition for a 'Police State'.

    - until your 3 year old enjoying his day at the beach cuts his foot requiring 100 stitches because some fucking loser left their rtd bottle in the sand, you won't understand how much some people despise this behaviour
    - unrinating in public place has its own offence, so it's not indecent exposure
    - disorderly actually has 2 offences - one simply behaving in disordely manner (like shouting out the car window at 2am waking everyone up), the other is likely to cause violence (faling short of an assault)
    - drinking in public is only an offence if there is a liquor ban bylaw. it stopped being a public place offence in 1980. being drunk in a public is usually disorderly or offensive behaviour.

Trust a Herald Poll. Haha, think about WHO they're polling. Anyway... the solution isn't in heavier policing, it's in acknowledging a significant sector of society is in need of thier own designated area to hang out, break bottles, piss on trees, and generally do what teens do... get drunk and act like dicks, and if the rest of society should learn some tolerance toward people yelling out car windows (victimless crime) we'd save a fortune on tax for policing, and probably all have more understanding and respect for each other too. Maybe there will be a day when some Herald reading toff spots a drunk boyracer having a shit behind a tree in a public park and hands him the politcal section to wipe his arse with

i like the idea in some ways, if it were similar to a speeding ticket where you can take it to court if you want to fight it, rather than having a shit load of people turn up to plead guilty,

as teh two arguments put above about the beach scene, one group's fun is another ones hell,

the beach scene was all i could think of at the time, the REAL ISSUE IS THAT MANY YOUNGER PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET FUCKED OVER BY THE POLICE, just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

officer 1 "we dont even need to take this one back to the station, lets just give them all reccords and go to teh next party"
officer 2 "yep sounds like fun"
ginger "i want to frame them for more than just these, cant we take at least one back to the station"

if you were innocent, you would get left alone, and if you think you were in the right you could fight it, i don;t see the problem

the truth is the courts are tied up by alot of paperwork that does not need to be done for minor offenses, it would cost the country a whole lot less to do the same thing, give people a slap over the wrist
