Out of recession? True or false?

I wanna know if businesses are actually doing better as the government is leading us to believe, or if they are infact just spindoctoring again.

I own two retail businesses, and both are trading slightly lower than last year. They are both trading slower than they were last month also (just). I certainly do not feel like we are coming out of a recession. I have several friends that are about to lose their businesses too in the very near future.

So, can I get an honest response from business owners to the poll please.

Businesses go bust during good times, not just recessions...it's not as simple as Recession On / Recession Off

September is traditionally a quiet month in my game,at least for the last 20 years I've had reason to take note. But the general concensus is that it's quiet...very,very quiet.A couple of other shops in town have put the guys on 4 day weeks....hint,hint we are told.Once agriculture starts up very soon I think everything will warm up too. Here's hoping anyway....

    What fucking "recession"?

"Readjustment" would be a better term for the economy.

Backpacking industry is good, definately less numbers on previous years (prior to the recession) but still good

An improvement this month on last yes & also improvement on this time last year

To answer your question, yes I think NZ is on the way out of the recession, certainly through the worst of it I would say.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

The steel business I work for, our local orders are 80% of our production. But our tonnage is down, 700 tons per week instead of 1600 tons per week. Not much export product because our dollar is too strong against the American. I think our local economy is doing OK. Seems to be alot of people out spending money at the moment.
