Our figures nationally have been climbing since the start of the year, although certain areas are only just being hit by the downturn overall it is looking up on 08 figures

Worst part for us was Jan - Jun this year. July was very good, August was good and things should be about the same for the rest of the year. This year won't be as good as last year though, that was our biggest ever.

Its a real mixed bag out there, some doing it tough and others like us are doing really well.
I'm an events planner & the company I work for had a 20% growth in September over last years figures.

I need multiple votes. This month is worse than last month but this year is better than last year...

It's the quietest it's been since I've been there (around 15 months) and others around me are saying it's never been this quiet before. I'm in the car tyre game...

Things have been pretty bleak for us in the past 6 months or so. We are just starting to see things picking up a little bit.

On the retail hardware side of things, its picked up over the last 2 months major pick up in building material supply's.

+1. We've had no "recession" in comms...I think 'cos we suffered ours in the dotcom bust a few years ago (when I got made redundant back in Blighty), seems like it's everyone else's turn to suffer this time around.

Our factory was down on orders, but now we are busier than ever and it looks like it's going to stay that way.

I have my own business, this month has been quieter as we has a job put back 3 weeks, we are now busy again per usual.

In Wanaka there is approx $60 m worth of commercial work going on at present and still many large houses being built.

Generally looking ahead things are well on the improve and looks good.

People lose sight of the fact that the previous 4-5 years were boom years and NOT the norm of everyday, guys here in Wanaka were working 7 days a week and got worried when they went back to 5 days, in essence they had forgotten how to play and were being owned by work.

As a business owner and employer for nearly 10 years I believe we in NZ have a great future to look to.

The car game is always quiet around this time. Not really sure why (used to blame it on the august holidays) but I think it has to do with WoF cycles...and I first noticed it when the new WoF game started late '80's.The busiest times for WoF is dec,jan,feb....then they come back 6 mths later.Off peak, like now is quiet. This reflects on the tyre game as after bulbs, tyres are our biggest fail item.
