Need a spot of advice
Have a tap that is leaking slightly up the shaft to the handle.
Have dis-assembled it. The tap has a rubber seal on the shaft which could probably do with replacing.
But I cant see how to remove / replace it - it sits deeply in slot with a large lip either end. There seems to be no way to get the seal over the lips or to separate the shaft.
Can it be done? Is there something I'm missing? Or should I just replace the tap?

Where abouts are you Jim? We have plumbers registered with us throughout NZ and I can have one of them contact you if you like. I've forwarded your problem to my son-in-law who is a plumber but not sure when he's due back in the office today.

In that case, I'd probably just take it into your local Mastertrade branch and show them at their plumbing counter. If you need a new tap, let me know the make and model number and I may be able to get it at a better price for you.

Old house, bathroom handbasin - two separate taps joining under the basin to a common spout - I'm not a plumber so pardon the technical inaccuracies

So it's not a mixer tap then? If it's not then replace the washers and check the pipes leading up to the tap to make sure they're not leaking. Some pics would definately help.
