i think people should settle down. we don't know what happened. he may have died with a helmet on anyway and it may not be his fault.
also, his family may be reading.
lets get the details before we make a judgement

Has the support they offer gone up since Grub died? Cos if you are right we didn't get that amount of assistance for the funeral ... Also, I did not approach ACC the funeral director did - and then they contacted me regarding other assistance. The help they were able to offer ensured that I could still pay bills etc while working out my own way of doing things.

Until more details are released, anything said here is merely speculation.
For all we know, a fence-paling went through his heart. A helmet wouldn't provide an ounce of protection against that sort of injury.
The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.

I am breaking one of my own cardinal rules here but....
I hate these threads! Leave off the lot of you. Someone died. The hows, and whys, and what ifs, the he/she should haves, the he did or didn'ts, the money his family may or may not receive, the cost to us and the reasons he was out at that time and what he was wearing are totally irrelevant!
Why this even was thought to be reason to bring it on the forum is beyond me frankly.
There was a fella killed on his bike up this way last night too by the way, not that far from where I live actually. Reading in the paper he was taken out by a car that was "racing" with another vehicle, shock, horror, probe.
What makes this forum discussed death any more or less tragic than the one that happened here 24 hours ago?
Revolting threads! Some of you should really be thinking about the reasons you post this crap on here. A person died in tragic circumstances. THE END.
