    Setting up suspension?

my buell has good suspension, about time for new fork oil but thats all. i have never done anything to it as the factory settings are about right for my weight.

i would like to have a play with it, but i know nothing about what i should be looking for in my riding as is, to guide me in what changes i should make.

i know i can make slight changes and suck and see, but it would be nice to know a bit more about what im doing first.

i have preload, compression and rebound adjustment front and back. preload and rebound are less of a concern than getting the compression right for me.

are there things i should look for in my riding that will give me a pointer to what changes would suit me?????

First set the sag, then adjust the damping to control the bike.
Do a search, it's been covered once before on this site

Wot HDTboy said... plus: a VERY basic way to start setting your damping, as follows:
Front compression.. try heavy braking from about 100km/h on a suitable little used backroad or the track. If the forks compress too readily, you need more compression damping. If the front feels too harsh on the bumps, a bit less.
Front rebound.. as above, but release the front brake quickly. If the front rises up too quick, try a bit more rebound damping. Too slow, and it will "pack".
Rear compression.. if the back end squats under acceleration, add compression, and if it's too harsh... set less.
If you find a lack of traction, more than likely too much compression damping.
I stress that this is a VERY simplistic overview.
Suspension settings and feel are a very personal preference thing
