The Oz Superbikes are racing with the V8 Snoozercars at the racing mecca of Phillip Island this weekend. Ok it's a non-championship round for the bikes, but waddayarekun? Good idea or not? Something we should work towards or try in NZ?

With the size of the show and our comparatively poor facilities space would be an issue but if we're prepared to circle the wagons in the back paddock it could be a good opportunity to raise the profile of our sport.

After the last VMCC round we are in no position to point the finger regards dropped oil etc.........

Think there were a few concerns regarding debris on the differing lines.

It's hard to compare what with the different tyre rules etc. Waters set a new Superbike lap record of 1m32.4 in the second race, with Maxwell recording a 1m32.6 superpole lap.

I struggled to find an up to date V8 lap record, with Lowndes doing almost a flat 1m32 back in qualifying in 2000. Best qualifying this weeeknd was "only" a 1min33.2 but it is an endurance weekend so read into it what you will.

There have been any number of 4+2 car+bike (and even car+bike+truck) meetings in NZ over the years (the V8 Supercar or was in NZV8 meeting at Pukekohe being probably the latest I think).
Myself I have competed in about 4, one at Baypark, one at Ruapuna and I forget the others, far too distant past.
To my mind they were all excellent, a load of fun and a good way to get bikes in front of car crowds and for us to see how the car guys do it.
Having said that, it was reasonably clear that the car crowds were not really that interested in seeing the bikes, and of course if there is a time issue it is the bikes that get cut.
Crap on the circuit never really seemed to be an issue in the scheme of things.
Opportunity for ya Slowpoke to go and get it done given that you seem to want it to happen. It only takes a phone call to get the ball rolling.

the motogp bike must be doing what 30 flat?? i mean motogp bikes are much more techinaly advanced than sbk's......a motogp bike would do a good 330km/h and be able to take a corner.....

Cars own us on the brakes, we generally take off alot quicker

For the last two years there has been a bike "invatation" class at the ruapuna rounds of the V8utes.
First year it was open class mostly 600/1000s.........and this year it was streetstock 150.
Both were very well recieved by the crowds and put on a good show the lady wigram car meet normally has a bike class too.
So yeah it works.......... and they certainly get the crowds in (people seem quite willing to pay $25/30 to watch one maybe two reasonably fast car classes and a heap of old/slow stuff)
The debris thing is not that bad the good drivers do a good job of sweeping the track and lay down plenty of rubber............... the others do tend to loose small items and drop oil quite well though!!!
The worst culprits are the drift cars if they do demos or similar....fine if they can stay on the tarmac but alas most cant.
We will always be one class support due to time restrictions but i think its good and have really enjoyed the ones i have been at.
A lot of the car drivers have never seen bike racing close up and are quite impressed too.

Yep, I'm not so keen on the taxi races but I love the Central Muscle Cars and the TraNZam's or whatever they are called these days. If I could have a coupla races on the bike then wander amongst that sorta machinery I'd be as happy as a pig in poo.

i thought the motogp bike were faster! and i was right!!



moto gp's bikes are bloody quick dani pedrosa got clocked to 350km/h at mugello.....
