Apparently you can get quite cheap ones that are designed for Paintball/airsoft. Pretty much exactly the same thing but about 1/3 the price...

The Blueants were good, but have been unavailable for about a year.

Don't buy anything from Pinfolds. Seriously.

Getting the right headset is the most important part. Would recommed you 'try a before you buy' in your helmet to make sure you can live with the discomfort/feeling/sensation.

I have a nolan helmit with the nolan bluetooth set (the 102) ... Grub and I would always use when riding .... built into the helmit is a great bonus.

That comment indicates you had issues with Mike or his products. Would you care to elaborate, or are you just a hit and run sorta guy?

I have been dealing with Mike for almost 3 months sorting out bluetooth connectivity issues (see below) and have found his follow up service to be second to none (very seriously.. as testified to, by the effort I took to substantiate my claim). In fact I have never had occasion to require so much follow up service (from anyone for anything) before... and as it turns out it wasn't because of any short coming of either his products or services. I seriously doubt anyone could provide a better support service than he provided me.

I made a purchase of the cheaper stereo bluetooth unit that PHS supply (1 only - not a pair) and paired it with my Sony Erricson W350I phone/walkman and found that it did what it was supposed to (answer phone calls and play music etc) but the signal was intermittent. I contacted Mike about the issue and he promptly sent a replacement unit up (after checking it out himself) In fact he ended up replacing it twice at no charge and without any hint of reluctance but the problem persisted. He did initially suggest I try the unit with other phones which I did but I didn't try the brand of phone recommended in the instructions (Nokia).

I subsequently concluded that the phone might still be the problem so I bought a new and better one.. a Sony Erricson W980 (not a Nokia ) as the salesman insisted that all phone manufacturers are now using the same bluetooth chipset (which I found was un true) which as you may guess, didn't solve the problem. So I contacted Mike and asked if I could return the unit for a part credit against the more expensive Interphone unit. He was very obliging and gave me a full credit..

Of course as you may have guessed I had problems with the new unit. Although the music streaming was now faultless, I couldn't hear the voice of the caller on phone calls . So I spoke to Mike and asked for suggestions (which he provided along with another unit to check) . Unfortunately there was no difference... So, I finally did the logical thing and bought a Nokia N85 (like I should have in the first place) and the problem was solved.

    Crystal clear calls and Music

I tried pairing it with the spare unit he sent up and all is good.

So....... The problems were really all of my own making (for ignoring the manufacturers advice that brands other than Nokia may be problematic), yet Mike gave significantly better support service than I have ever experienced before.

Whilst I don't doubt that other people have been disappointed with some aspect of PHS service or products (which is normal for all business types), given my experiences with them I would question how well they have communicated the problems to Mike as I find it difficult to believe that he wouldn't have done everything reasonably within his power to resolve it.

I am very happy to recommend PHS Ltd (Mike Pinfold) www.amalgamate2000.com/sales

good writeup, sounds like good service, but holy shit that man needs to get a better website, i was assaulted with bright colors and a fairly unorganized list of products, just my first impressions but they count in the online sales buisness.

Just as a side note, I've never had any issues with the A2DP bluetooth of my SE W910i. It connects flawlessly to my headphones and also to my Pioneer cage headunit with BT Audio. It also has connected flawlessly to half a dozen mono BT headsets. I guess some units are just 'more compatible' than others sometimes. The iPhone BT seems pretty limited (in my experience)

+1 with Bogan on the website!!

You may be right Steve. I am mainly speaking to the follow up service. Other BT units may have better connectivity... I don't know.

I am planning a trip down South with my Partner as a pillion. I want to be able to talk to her.

I take it that I can get a wireless system so that I can talk to her? And when she gets a bike of her own we can then talk to each other as we ride?

    Am I right?

lol. The cheapest way to communicate with a pillion is to touch helmets together when you talk.. sounds like they are in the helmet with you
