USB DVB-T Receiver limitations?

This technology seems on the face of it to be a very cheap way of hooking into digital TV broadcast via a computer. Yes I have good Prime TV coverage, which seems to be a requirement.

Can anybody out there tell me if it measures up to its claimed performance, and especially if it will allow me to play the broadcast on my Loewe digital CRT TV in the same way that I currently watch movies from my HDD?

I've had one of the pinnacle jobbies for about a year now. Pretty damn good, not perfect but i'm just using the piddly ariel that it came with. I think it would be perfect if you had a decent TV ariel as there's a jack into the back of the unit for that. As far as price is concerned, 99 bucks for HDTV is pretty good in my book. shame i've got a tin roof as an inner loft ariel won't work. I plugged it into the laptop at work and as i'm on the 10th floor, the reception was flawless...

My analogue Prime TV reception isn't that crash hot, but my Freeview UHF is perfect. Freeview reports a strong signal.

UHF aerial "Unlikely"
Satellite "Very Likely"

Clear view of the transmitter tower on Egmont from here so worth a try. Cheap enough kit from 1-Day to be able to flick it off on Trade Me if unusable

line of sight to mt KauKau,reception likely...I would think so seeing we get all channels clear as(with some adjustments) on rabbit ears!

I got a PCI DVB-S (satellite) setup and its really good. Picture and audio is pristine. Dish wasn't cheap tho.

If you are going to go DVB-T then see if you can go HD-ready. The performance of that should be spectacular.

If you can watch movies from your PC on your telly, then there is no real reason why you can't watch TV in it as well.
