Anyone have SkyTV, or MySky HDI?

looking into getting either regular sky, or my sky. anyone have it, and is my sky any good? would get freeview, but would only watch the standard 1, 2 and 3, whereas sky has the crime channel and cartoons etc. i applied to go back to the warehouse as part of nightfill over xmas, hence why im considering my sky to record programmes i will miss during those hours.

    opinions appreciated!

I'm still on the standard sky and can't see me changing in future. As far as i'm concerned the only reason to have mysky is if you've got a full HD tv and must MUST MUST have a crystal clear picture... I've hooked my PC up to record TV if i need to. Might be worth waiting for a bit as i believe TIVO is making an arrival soon, if it hasn't already and may be cheaper and/or could drive the price of mysky down to a justifiable level...

With the number of spamming adverts on NZ TV we record everything we want to watch on Mysky. I couldn't watch with out it. Its TV recording solved as far as I am concerned.

Mysky is ace, record all the kids movies and bike racing, Mrs records the Aussie soaps. Then we watch them when it suits us. Its paired up to a 42" HD samsung, wouldn't be without it now.

+1 Mysky HDi is worth it.... my only wish would be for the recorded shows to be able to be downloaded on to an external hard drive or USB drive to copy to my computer

good responses so far. thanks. seems like my sky is the way to go. i forgot that you can skip the adverts.
im only on bunny ears right now and dont get a perfect picture, but ive got a 32" [i think] lcd, as opposed to the old 36cm rear projection telly. we tried the external aerial, and couldnt even get a picture. lol. its kool now that when i watch a movie i can actually see it!

mashman, i did want tivo, but telecom have taken it over and its running about $900. too much for me. also stinks cos if you have broadband with any other provider, it looks like you also have to get telecom bb to be able to download movies.

    This ^^

I would prefer to pay that for a decent internet plan and just download my shows. You don't even need to fast forward the ads, they're already deleted.

Yep I had a Tivo since 2004 but once I made the change to Hi def, the Tivo just didn't cut it anymore.

I bought an HD TV a year ago, that started my HD addiction and now I can't bear to watch anything in SD. The Tivo got replaced by mySkyHDi. The Xbox (XBMC) got replaced by a Windows7 Media PC. My cheap DVD home theatre setup got replaced by Onkyo/Wharfedales with Sony subwoofer. I was going to get a PS3 for Bluray but now it looks like the winner of the HD format war is streamed/downloadable content.
