    Got it today...

Picked up my new 08 Burgman 400 from Colemans, and rode her home today.

I was met down there by Insane1, who had his Burg 650 parked outside. (Nice looking scoot too ... complete with trick exhaust system .... sounds good)

Got familiar with the ins and outs of the Burg, thanks to Insane1 and Matt from Colemans, and then set off back towards home.

I stopped at BP station on northern motorway for a coffee and a bite to eat.
I had three people stop and ask me about the Burg while I was at the gas station. It seems people are interested in something "different" like the Burg.

I'm pretty sure lots of people have no idea what a Maxi Scooter is .... until they see one up close, and see that they have a pretty reasonable engine size, dual disks up front, and all the storage, etc, etc.
All that stopped to talk were very impressed, and asked lots of questions. Other people were looking at her .... but didn't come over to talk

I had a real nice ride back to Whangarei, only marred by 3 or 4 lots of road works.

I didn't push it, as it was brand new .... but it cruised along real easy at just over 100kmh, pulling about 5,500rpm. Loads left to go !! It is going to be a blast when it is run in. I'm keen to get the K's up as quick as I can, so I can really enjoy this machine !!

It is very comfortable, handles very well, brakes really well, and I was able to just relax and enjoy the ride. It's a very easy bike/scoot to ride.

I wish I had known about / and got into these .... a long time ago !! They are that good, and that much fun !!

I'll take some pictures of her over the weekend (if it's fine up here ... ??) and post them on my profile.

The C50 is/was great !! I swapped/traded it for the Burgman. It was a fantastic cruiser, and all I would want in that style of bike. I really rate them highly. They are fast enough for NZ roads, pretty quick around corners for a cruiser, and are reasonably comfortable on a trip.

It wasn't an easy decision to quit that bike, but injuries meant that I needed a lighter bike to manage, if I was to continue to enjoy riding.

In hind sight (you know .... that perfect science ...) I should have waited a while after my accident in January this year, to see how injuries settled down .... BEFORE .... buying my next bike.
The cruiser was a decision to slow down and take it easy, which was good. However, I was still finding it too heavy for me, with a lower back/left hip injury. The scoot didn't give me any pain when riding today, and it weighs about 80kg less than the C50. Just a matter of a practical choice for me to continue to tour and enjoy riding !!

It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

Well done on the new comfy arm chair (with wheels).

I've seen David's and yes they are impressive. Particularly with all that storage.

5500rpm seems a bit high for running in.

    Good luck.

Yes maybe, but i was advised to travel at normal road speed going home. The dealer knew where I lived and the road i was going to be on. He advised stopping a couple of times on the way to let it cool down, which I did. It never showed anything like hot .... just sat at midway on the temp gauge the whole way.
I didn't load it up at all. It seemed to be quite happy. I varied the speed/revs a bit from time to time, so as not to just sit at one rev range. I think it will be fine. I've run in a few bikes without any problems.
    Cheers.
