    OS Racing (chapter one)

Well its the start of a busy few weeks for us......... at least one of us is racing/riding for the next 8 weekends....and the only one off we are doing a static display at local A&P show. So he is the first two weekends.
    Sportzone Suzuki track day 5/9/09
As Pete was on holiday in raratonga we saw this as a good opportunity for Ants to have a good day on the SV. He did good taking things nice n easy and getting used to a much larger/heavier machine. He still struggles with the slower turns as he needs to work on using his body weight more. He is tall but doesnt weigh much. Nevertheless you can tell that he will soon be up to race speed, just needs lots more seat time. As a reward for doing well on the SV i let him take the 675 out in the last session...........expecting im to be a little cautious...........WRONG....... he immeadialtely went quicker than he was on the SV. His comments when he came in were "wow it feels like someone is trying to push you head over into the screen all the time...... makes it easier to corner!!!!!!!!" Body position - weight forward - think he saw what i was getting at then.
Hopefully this will help him with his 150 riding too as photo evidence shows that he needs to improve his corner/body position there too.
His younger bro (chris 13) who usually is in charge of video/photos also got a surprise........ we told him when he arrived that he was riding the RG150 in training class.after initial shock and nerves - and a quick clutch session out the back of pits he took to it like a duck to water. Very cautious in the morning but getting up to some good speeds and confident riding in the afternoon. says he wants to do some more training sessions soon..... will be intersting how he goes as he has a completely different approach to things than his brother (he is qiuet but very competitive)
An excellent day, with great weather its a shame about the big tangle of bikes in the early session.........wishing all those injured a speedy recovery.

    BEARS Rd5
last sunday saw a "corker" day with temps in the mid 20,s.
All the usual suspects were there and a few surprises too.
F1 race 1.. A missed gear going into the hairpin on lap 2(whilst laying 3rd) saw me run onto the grass with a "finger' of front brake and down it went. Only a minor (few scratches) got back on and finished somewhere at the back (only to see leader go down on same corner) bugger!
    Race 2
Had an epic battle with Paul Blasby (very trick/quick 998 monster) with us actually touching a couple of times. I knew that i could outbrake him into T3 (short circuit) and planned to "mug him" on last lap........ but saw that Scotty(675) was right on my tailpipe so i went for it on lap 4. Paul gave chase and passed me again at start of lap 5. we were then joined at the hip for lap 5/6...... on last two corners of last lap we caught a back marker.. Paul went for the inside and me for the outside line. The monster gave the guy a scare and he pushed me wide onto the dirt entering last corner i got round him ready to cut back in only to have the ducati running wide on exit so this time i took to the rumble strip on the exit....i wasnt giving this up without a fight so kept it nailed and did the whole length of the bumps with the back tyre spinning only to be beaten at the line by about a bike length AWESOME STUFF.

The other races were a little less hectic but still it was very tight racing with all position a hard fight....... Streetsock 2nd & 3rd. Hinckley 2x 3rd.

Some awsesome racing this season in the winter series with Scotty Sutherland(675) leading our classes. Newbies Andy Stewart (675) Gordon Wilcocks(factory Aprillia) and of coarse Paul Blasby (998 monster) really causing some upsets.
And not forgeting Jay Lawrence & Dan Ormsby who came out earlier in the series to show us how it should be done.

So its off to Levels on Sat for the last round there.... ants is leading King Of Canterbury (streetstock) and Pete is 2nd & 3rd in respective clubmans. champs......... im having a weekend off to be "the pit bitch"
