    Woo hoo - proud parents

Just heard this morning that our daughter has been awarded her Master's in Psychology. We're soooo proud, not just because of her achievement but for the fact that she was totally aimless at school and a real airhead. Scraped into university, found a subject she adored and just took off. Now planning to study for her Doctorate whilst working for Corrections in Wellington. A long, long way from that little girl who drove us nuts, even if we did love her to bits at the same time!

Just shows that when someone discovers something that they are really passionate about, no matter what it is; the sky really is the limit.

I think a few single malts will be consumed tonight by way of toasting

That's great news she has found her place in life. No doubt you have another proud moment coming up at the capping ceremony.

Thanks everyone, we're over the moon. Our two boys were always motivated where study was concerned but this is a wee bit special considering how she's changedl!

Yep, I'd say she was attractive, even if she does dress like a Goth on occasions. However, she doesn't suffer fools gladly, so you'd be toast. Actually she doesn't suffer fools at all and I'm more scared of her than I am her mother

Well done. Guess it can surprise you when they finally grow up and do something amazing with their life. Maybe there's hope for my daughter yet

Kids can give you the most wonderful surprises, eh?
And you end up wondering why you worried yourself sick over them.
    Well done to you all!

My two kids are chalk and cheese re schoolimg.Older one would've sat school cert-ncea 1 at 14yr,she wasn't bumped up a class in primary school which they reccomended, she cruised into secondary school and ncea, enough to get into uni(she had to have her bowel removed, thanks to my genes as a precaution against cancer in her year 12),she still managed to get the required grades and did a summer course to guarantee uni qualified.
Younger one is your typical average student, who has decided against uni,but will complete vet nursing. Then maybe apply for vet science course.Proud of them, you bloody bet.

Good news, Geoff. Have a nice drop of malt for me!

I loved school but had no idea what I wanted to do and didn't find that passion until I was in my 30s - sometimes it just takes a bit of time and inspiration. Glad to hear she has done so well, that is a great achievement.
